That was the meaning of the video in general. But they also highlighted the fakeness of a virtual world as well.. The phone was posting the pretty pictures of the pretty girl, There was no phone taking pictures of her getting her hours of makeup and Botox injections.. Marco selling the pill that fixes everything in your life, but behind the scenes his life is a total mess.. Something that was hard to pick out was Toumas, the nature lover... taking pictures of him hugging the trees, but what you have to pay attention to is the dude bathing in the disgusting crude oil.. At one point that dude pulls up his mask and it's Toumas the nature lover that is bathing in the crude oil.. 90% of what is on social media is not what it seems. The baby part thru out the video is showing someone living their entire life behind a virtual reality mask, while being totally oblivious of all the natural beauty of the earth all around us. Very powerful messages and I particularly like the song lyric "You have become a tool of the tool".. So who's in charge, is the phone a tool to enhance our lives or have we become the tool to enhance our cell phones existence.

Honestly, I would call Tuomas an "environmental social chameleon," as his context is the environment. Instead of being narcissistic, he goes to the complete opposite and doesn't have any opinions of his own he is willing to stand for -- hence the flipping of the sign -- because what is important to him is not to have a voice, but to have the approval of people, especially online.

The reference to a "Brave New World" is a reference to Aldus Huxley's dystopian novel by that name. "Black Mirror" is a British dystopian TV series. Interesting how Tuomas weaved those two titles into the lyrics. The little girl is not Floor's daughter. What is interesting is that the young blonde woman is actually a well known Swedish Instagram model who is parodying herself. I thought that was quite gutsy on her part to appear in a music video that was taking potshots at the triviality of her lifestyle. Marko as the instant fix, pill pushing huckster who is dissatisfied with his life and Troy as a Trumpian poser, just add layers to the message. Floor is a domineering mother who's only interest is the exploitation of her daughter. The old man dies at the end, having spent his life under the hood, subjected to noise and never lived. The hood is probably synonymous originally with the TV set and now our various screens. Note the reappearing hexagons in the video which are synonymous with the hive mind - a phrase that appears elsewhere in another song on the CD. There's a lot to unpack.

One question: They seem to keep weaving in the Floor-Little Girl part with the Model. Could another subtext be that because of the Little Girl's exploitation from her Mother, she grows up to crave those kinds of attentions, maybe even be a cam model on a sex site because she is taking selfies of her own behind a lot too. Just a thought I had, doesn't mean it's true, but I wondered if anyone else heard that or thought of that about this part of the video. :)

For me, the scene with the "monks" (more of a cult) shows people who are usually on the same page, liking the same things, watching same things... Mainstream-ish. And when someone likes or says something different that is not in unison, the others turn against him: a shit storm. The one taking pictures of that violence represents, for me, the lack of civil courage in today's society. Not only virtually to stand up against the shit storm, but also referring to real events nowadays when people take pictures of a person being beaten up instead of helping.

Trump has never owned a oil company, so not that., aha, maybe they are trying to say big companies run our government or oil runs our foreign policy or maybe the ol USA makes to much noise in the real world. studio versions of nightwish are good, but where the band gives their best live performances, if you want to react to some of their epic songs, all live obviously, I suggest these from the 2013 concert in wacken: "song of myself", "storytime", "ever dream" and "romanticide". not to be missed is floor sings "the phantom of the opera" with henk poort on the dutch tv program beste zangers. I also suggest these other two that together with "ghost love score" from the 2013 concert in wacken, which you have already watched, make up the holy trinity of the band's performances: "the poet and the pendulum" from the 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from the 2015 concert in tampere - finland.

Dear ladies, great reaction and you got the message of the song quite right, it is actually a warning to all of us, that social media could be very addictive, isolating us from the real world as it is shown in the last scene of the video. From baby, to teen, to adult, to old man this person was under the influence of this "brave new world" and missed out the beautiful nature around him until he died and had never really lived. Some people could interpret it as a criticism of modern technolgy, but it is actually about the addiction we all could develop if we just use this technology without being careful. Please react to the other songs from this album Human:||:Nature. And please do them in order. "Noise" is the second track on this album, so next should be "Music" (first one) and then "Shoemaker", "Harvest", "Pan", "How's the heart", "Procession", "Tribal" and then "Endlessnes". There are lyric videos to each of the songs. The theme of CD1 is all about humanity: "Music" is the evolution of music told by music itself (as if it would be a living entity). "Shoemaker" is a tribute to Eugene Shoemaker, the founder of modern planetary science (check his story on Wikipedia). "Harvest" is another word for death (in this one Troy has the vocal lead with Floor and Marko providing harmonies). For "Pan" I don't have an interpretation unfortunately. "How's the Heart" would i interpret as a plea to be more compassionate to others, even if we don't know them (Tuomas stated that the second verse is actually about Floor, her husband Hannes and their daughter Freija). "Procession" speaks about how we humans should care more for all other living beings on this planet, it is the story of evolution of life, viewed from a species that comes after us in the far future (don't miss the title of the book that is shown in the video, it is in dutch and you should look it up on google translate). "Tribal" is about Religions and finally "Endlessness" for which I don't have an interpretation yet. CD 2 of the album is actually just one long piece about nature without any vocals, perfect for dimming the light or lighting just one candle, leaning back, closing your eyes and listening. I bought the earbook and listened to the whole album several times and every time it brought me to tears just because of the beauty of this masterpiece. Would love to see you react to the other songs, at least from CD 1 and to hear your opinions.

I can understand the confusion here, especially if you are not intentionally looking for the meaning behind the video and the song, as sometimes, those aren't totally visible. The song and video aren't just about social media and the esoteric, 'what we see on the outside' view of it, but also our responses to it, what we don't see underneath or behind the scenes from it (read: the real story), and the fact that we've grown to the point where it has taken over a major part of our lives. The cast: Floor: the mother who uses the daughter for the likes and acceptance she gets online, while in reality (of the video), she's a helicopter mother. Emppu: the non-conformist who is out of line by actually looks up at the Mona Lisa while everyone else doesn't. When he's seen as the non-conformist, he is killed. Kai: the opportunist, who instead of helping Emppu as he is being killed, poses for a selfie during the killing. Tuomas: The environmentalist who on the outside is all for saving the trees, meanwhile behind the scenes, he is for the companies destroying the environment, to the point where he is bathing in oil. Marko: the salesman wanting you to buy his pills. Weight loss, fat loss, etc. He appears to be in great shape because of them. But you know the behind the scenes story on that. Not much more to say on that one, as you see what he's doing. Troy: The king, who in the beginning wants to do good for his kingdom but in the end, only wants power and adoration of the people, to the point where he doesn't care about the people anymore, except for being able to use them to improve his image, in an attempt to grab more power. The blonde: That is Instagram model Jessica Edstrom. She's snapping pics of her in all these wonderful poses with those outfits, but no-one ever sees the fact that she's getting injections into her lips so they look full, or the hair being done, or anything plastic. The premise for this: social media isn't bad; it's our love for attention and using social media to gain that attention, and exposing the flaws that we have, which are bad. We've taken a useful tool and are using it for petty things, and we need to wake up to it. That's why at the end of the video, you see a beautiful sunrise in the forest of all of the people being exposed to this (note the baby became an old man at the end of the video).. to remind all of us that there is hope.. to be Nightwishy: a new day, a new opening, for the Greatest Show on Earth. (yes, I know what I did there!)

Great reaction! I just took notice of Nightwish about a year ago. You should also checkout Within Temptation and Amaranthe for more Symphonic Metal. Another artist to react to is Lindsey Stirling for a change in violin playing. She has collaborated on both original songs and covers with artists like Lzzy Hale, Amy Lee, Pentatonics, Peter Hollins and many more. Many of her songs are instrumentals and she uses many featured artists for vocals on others. Take a peek at her MV's and Behind the scenes videos. kzbin.infovideos

There is definitely quite a bit of name-dropping going on - Brave New World, Matrix, Black Mirror... It's one of their best creative tricks, the ability to pick a simple allusion loaded with tons of meaning that explains the entire song. For instance, Matrix sets up the idea of multiple realities - full color "public", the depressingly grey everyday "private", and the "universal" real (forest). Brave New World gives you the foreseen dangers of technology and happy drugs, and Black Mirror gives its unexpected side effects...Add it together and you got a dystopian, but disturbingly accurate picture of humans and their technology. They did the same in Poet and the Pendulum - called it a dark "passion play" and with just that reference you get the idea and structure of the 10+ minute song without knowing any of the backstory.

Both Marko and Tuomas are massive readers... so deffinitively Brave New World is a refference. Also mirror is black is refference to Netflix series which is made of this subject. I really hope you could dive into Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars live rehearsal at Sonic Pump Studio. Kai plays drums also in that band... and it's EPIC! Please and peace 🙏🏼😎✌🏼

The way I see this is deeper than just the video -- it's the message behind the message, which is this: We are putting ourselves, willingly, into the prison called "Virtual Panopticon." Jeremy Bentham, an 18th-century philosopher, envisioned a Panopticon where people's behaviors could be controlled. The Panopticon was described as a model prison where the guards could observe the prisoners unseen, and the prisoners, once they knew they were being watched, would automatically follow the rules. The irony here is, its not a police state, a tyranny, or even a heavy-handed authoritarian state that is putting us in the Virtual Panopticon -- we are doing it to ourselves, by choice. We walk into the cell that they have laid out for us, and the kicker is, in the Virtual Panopticon, there is no need for locks to keep us imprisoned. What keeps us imprisoned is the platforms and sites themselves basically "cancelling" us if we do or say anything they don't like. Next, it will be the iteration of a world-wide social credit system -- why else do you think they are testing it out in China? By the time we realize what is happening, what is going on, it will be too late to speak out -- the only options will be to unplug and attempt survival on your own, or "shut up and dance" to the tune the system gives you (i.e., toeing the line the Authorities in Power tell you to toe). The biggest irony is, that while songs like this get made and distributed, it's never enough to make a difference -- and because of the addictive nature of our phones, and our narcissistic need for the approval of others, we will literally become so dumbed-down that we will go to sleep and wake up in the world of "Idiocracy." And I fear for humanity, and our world, should that long slide into darkness takes place. And given that agencies like DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) have come out and announced an AI-human brain interface, given that there are organizations and agencies that want to change us into something other than human, and most importantly, want utter and total, despotic authoritarian control over us -- because _they_ know "what's good for us," like Big Brother in 1984 -- what the scary thing is, is that when you think about it, what Noise talks about is already here. And the heart-wrenching thing for me is, they are succeeding through children like my 4-year-old niece and my 1-year-old nephew, who I fear, will grow up in a world where they won't know freedom, because they are addicted to tech. Most people dont realize that we now know that children ages birth to 7 (I would argue birth to puberty) learn their "social programming" in that time. What tech does is literally make the kids so addicted to dopamine and serotonin that they are no longer in a healthy mental state. Problems ranging from projection to dependency to autism to narcissism are already being seen in society as normal -- all because parents have abdicated their duty and responsibility of actually raising a child, instead of putting a phone or tablet in their hands. But it isn't just the parents -- government is also to blame. Given that the US hasn't done the proper thing regarding COVID, which has had as consequences LDL (Long-Distance Learning) and virtual classrooms, as well as requiring parents to buy tablets for kids in public schools...you add it all up, and they are literally behaviorally changing kids to accept what they are pushing, because the kids don't know any different.

One other aspect: The blonde model. I saw this on another reaction video, and I feel it 100% accurate -- and the observation is this: With the way social media today is, the blonde represents women on social media who feel that the only way they can get noticed is to do things that are considered harmful (hence the red hood, representing "innocence"). Because social media reinforces classic narcissism, the girl is forced to remove pieces of clothing to keep her followers interested, until there is nothing left but full-blown nudity -- at which point, porn is the only thing she would have left, or be forced to face the fact that social media followers leave you as nothing more than a shallow shell of a person, if you are constantly seeking out the approval of people online.

This song and video is a representation of this generations Brave New World/Matrix. From the beginning, in today's society, little ones are 'plugged in' when their parents hand them a phone to keep them pacified, out of their hair, and quiet. From that point it's a vicious circle of being bombarded by the falseness of what to think, feel, and how to behave, "Slave To A Brave New World". There is a real genuine immoral hypocrisy and virtue signaling that is going on. In the video they portray the environmentalist proudly protesting, who in reality is actually submerged, happily bathing in the filth that he's protesting. The happy get quick-result pill pusher, who is really a depressed addict. The 'current' image driven ideal of beauty of being a lover of thy self, who's beauty in reality is all artificially created. The 'child- conscious' mother posing with her 'doll-like' child, when in reality she's verbally abusing said child, caging it with indifference ( the cage itself is also an acknowledgment of child trafficking). The 'woke' people sitting as if on pews scrolling religiously through their phones, in reality when one actually 'wakes' or steps differently from the 'crowd- thought' they are viciously attacked by said crowd... those onlooking, instead of doing the ethically moral thing and helping the one being attacked, uses the opportunity as a photo opp. The king that sits on a 'throne of power' that people present themselves to, in actuality that 'throne' is a golden toilet, a false position of power. Throughout the video, we are visualizing the age progression of that little baby from the beginning that was 'plugged in' until it's an old man who's video feed has just ended, when he passed... next to him is another 'plugged in' baby. A destructive image of the serpent eating it's own tail. The kicker to this video is two things. 1) The dark driving power of evil that is seen throughout the video in the form of the big black ever moving square screen behind the 'kings throne'. 2) All this immoral falsity represented, is taking place in the middle of the true natural beauty of God's creation... yet no one sees or feels that true reality because they are 'plugged in' and made blind to it. So very sad, yet a true representation of today's society. As always listen, appreciate, and enjoy!! God Bless!!!
