Welcome to a new video! I did say in my previous video, my next video would be at Area Festival. However, I had an eye opening training session today and thought it would be good to bring you guys along and show you how it doesn’t always go to plan!
I hope you enjoy and please don't forget to subscribe xx

Hello Charlotte Dear, I can see how upset you are about your ride today. Please don’t be, it was so windy and Vossi just all excited and over exuberant, I am sure he did not mean to make you feel so upset. We are all with you on your journey with Vossi. and know that there are some days like this, so put it out of your mind and get ready for a super lesson or test that is coming up . Your loving fan Jane ❤️🧑🏻‍🦰❤️🐴

Don't be too hard on yourself it happens whilst training. I Think you'd be surprised how many of the big dressage riders have been through the exact same with their horses its just we don't see that side of them and their training we just see them come and perform perfectly after months of practice. You're working together within a partnership, and sometimes you won't see eye to eye and you'll clash slightly, but once the little wobble is out the way you get the concentration head switched back on and get vossy listening to your aids and what your asking him to do using your latural work to lock his attention back on to you and what your asking him to do then re start your practice test. You ride him beautifully, Charlotte, and you've both come such a long way in a short space of time, especially after switching from SJ to dressage as well. I personally think from what I'm watching, you are both heading in the right direction together, so I honestly wouldn't be too concerned about the little blips along the way they will naturally happen it's how you deal with them during and afterwards that's important 😉 Really loving this dressage journey, you're both on together, so keep up the good work, keep working hard in your training, and practise your tests 💪🏼 you've got this! ❤

Really Charlotte, try to not go so harsh on yourself. Just because you had some spooks here and there, doesn’t mean that the whole lesson was trash. You did really well, there are always ups and downs down the road, Voss is just a horse after all. It’s honestly all good, don’t worry too much, you have come such a long way. Wishing you all the best of luck on the test ❤❤

Haha! Ya, I totally sympathize with you on this one. My hubby thinks I'm nuts as after one lesson I will come home grinning from ear to ear, singing the praises of my horse and then the next week's lesson come home crying and considering selling off my beast of a pony.

Fire intro! It's impressive how far back your trainers shoulders are. I need to constantly remind myself to lean back. Wind and spooks make me so nervous and we've all been there. I love to see the smooth and the rocky rides that you share with us. Don't worry, you'll snap back and have a brilliant ride again next time. You always do. You're an excellent equestrian! I don't even ride when it's windy. Nope! Big Hug

1) don’t beat yourself up!! It was super windy, he’s had days (+?) off for the weather, weathers been crazy so they’re all a bit funny at the moment, and it’s a spooky arena. 2) as you’ve said there’s a difference between you riding and your trainer….she’s a professional. He probably was just a little confused at the sudden change in riders. 3) you are being a little dramatic, lol. You ride beautifully and Vossi is a lovely horse. Just enjoy areas, don’t worry about the results! 4) after areas maybe consider some horsemanship lessons to learn how to cope with the spooking. There are tools you can use which will help both you and Vossi! Hang in there and good luck!!

It will never be perfect. Some days are good , some are not. You remembered where to go while he was spooky, so take away from that gratitude that if he does it during your test on show day, you can handle it.

You know Vossi best so I’m not trying to say this is how you should’ve done but just curious do you think he would benefit from a small reset in his training to stop and look at the spooks and figure out it’s alright on his own? Olivia Towers gave a really good lesson to Tina (or Life on the Left Rein) about handling spooky horses if you hadn’t already seen that vlog. The equestrian sport definitely has some highs highs and some low lows, remember to let some days roll off your shoulders and try again the next day 🥰🥰

Vossi will see you through! He may need a gallop time every now and then on a hack plus a few jumps to treat his mind as he tides over and more into the dressage mode. He is a very versatile and energetic horse! Lucky you!
