I think you are over thinking the sluggishness in the prelim, if anything in your prelim it looked hurried and unbalanced in places, the Novice trot was better balanced and had more jump, which is probably why it felt more forward. The power comes through when balance is achieved. Speed is not your friend, you want quick balanced uphill feet …and by the way, your riding has sooo improved and Vossie looks super …credit to you for working so hard …congratulations you are nailing it

I thought you did a good test

I was watching your test and thought you were doing very nicely. Then you critiqued yourself, and I was thinking to myself, did I miss something? Your second test went nicely too. THen, you revealed your test scores. You won both classes! Girl, you are way to hard on yourself! You've worked so hard and your both are going out and doing your absolute best and winning! You look great out there and so does Vossi. Don't doubt yourself! You've got this, believe!!! Thank you for your video, I do look forward to watching them!

That second test was lovely! And I love the music for him. You did a wonderful job with timing to the changes the music too!!! Hit your marks. Voss was much more on his hindend and looked relaxed. So exciting. I'm also excited for you, you are just killing it in Dressage! 🎉❤❤❤❤❤

It’s great that you got the result you wanted and anyone can see you’re putting in a lot of work with Vossi and his flatwork! It looks like your hands are doing too much or you’re holding him too tightly though, he doesn’t look like he’s soft over his back or carrying you with lightness, more like you’re pulling him around a bit. You’re creating all that energy with your leg but holding him so much in front that you’re getting those upwards transitions where you don’t want them, and he’s kicking up behind - all that energy has to go somewhere when his neck is held so tightly. A bit like what was happening with that ahem expressive back end with the jumping..? I would be taking a step back, working on a softer, lower frame that you don’t feel like you need to pull around, and then try and bring him up in to that more Novice carriage once you have the softness. I hope you read this the right way and can see where to go from here with your training ☺️

Hi Charlotte, I loved your hat, it looked so elegant, your second test was great. Like your Mum I loved everything about it. Vossi stopped swishing his tail and moved beautifully to the music. You both looked marvelous and I was not surprised at the terrific score that you got because it certainly was a superlative ride on both of your parts.
