i dont understand why people think that Barry HAS to die in order for Wally to take up the mantle of the Flash. just keep them both as Flash I mean if we can have two Spider-Men in NY then why cant we have two Flash's? and everytime Barry has appeared the only question of peoples minds is ''when is Wally going to be the main Flash'' and people only know Barry as ''the Flash that dies'' when he's more than that.

I never liked the idea of 2 spider-men in New York City. I feel like either Peter or Miles should be Spider-Man alone or one of them needs to have a separate name. I'm not a huge fan of two heroes sharing the same name at the same time, the only real exception I give is to Green Lantern since they're an entire group specifically of Green Lanterns. Barry doesn't necessarily have to die for Wally to become the Flash, but his death is a major moment in DC continuity and served as a major shifting point in DC history, as well as a major factor in many of Wally's early stories.

I think it's because Barry's death plays a big part in Wally becoming the Flash as well as the driving force in many of his stories and I agree both Flashes can co exist and it doesnt Barry's death will be permanent they could always bring him back down the line in a couple of years and have both men be synonymous with the title especially to keep both sides of the fanbase happy

I agree we really need a great flash movie more then ever especially with my boy Wally west flash mostly because well Wally west is my favorite flash character growing up especially with his family irey and jai west and Linda Park in my opinion.

It would be really cool to see a full flash family on the big screen. While i would personally prefer we get Barry first rather than skipping him over to Wally immediately any of the two would still be great as i really love both and it'd be nice to see both have their distinct personalities rather than relegating them to the funny guy and awkward guy

I'm grateful we got the flash tv show, despite it's flaws the flash tv show was really good from seasons 1 to 6 for me and 8 was great, 9 was alright. But I agree because like you Spider-Man is my favorite marvel hero and flash is my favorite DC hero (Green Arrow as well) Heck I want more Barry Allen Flash not only in films but also animation. An Animated series is what I need. I love the show but as the seasons went on Flash running scenes were less and shorter due to cw having more dc shows but with animation there can be tons of flash running scenes. It's my dream to see more Flash you know

Flash isn’t the only one but green lantern as well. If I’m James Gunn. For the dcu this is what I’d do. Introduce Barry Allen flash in the first justice league movie. After the first league movie is done make a solo flash movie where Barry Allen and wally west is the main character. In the movie barry is flash and Wally although he’s in his early to mid 20s he’s still kid flash. By the end of the movie barry somehow loses his powers( I don’t like the idea of killing him off or being trapped in the speed force). Barry and iris settle down and wally becomes the main flash.

Barry's death is a big influence in Wally becoming the Flash and trying to live up to his legacy it would be cool to see Barry's sacrifice on the big screen which influences Wally to take up the mantle and it doesnt mean Barry will be gone forever they could always being him back down the line

I think Flash needs an animated series far more than he needs a movie. A lot of classic Flash stories like trial of the Flash would work better in a show that more closely follows the comics. It would also help to introduce the general public to his rouges gallery. Plus if you think about it other popular hero’s like Batman, Spider-Man and the X-men were popularized through their 90s animated shows and led to more successful adaptations later on.

Why justice league movie may fail were an avenger movie doesn't, justice league consist mostly literal gods trynna be human except Batman, while avengers consist of humans playing gods. Simplicity might work for avengers not justice league

Flash has been done so dirty, much worse than GL imo. Ezra was a terrible casting and people had to be subject to him. Plus, he's much more recent compared to Reynolds GL in audience's mind. The big problem is that for most people, they think there's only one Flash story, aka, Flashpoint. Even if you like Flashpoint, it should never be the basis for a Flash franchise. The big problem being that Flash has to compete for attention in his own story by other characters, notably other alternate versions of more notable characters like Superman and Batman, even his own villain Zoom. Another thing is that the story expects you to have a firm understanding of Barry's character, which not everyone will and the focus will be on his screw up rather than his own character. It's the kind of story you tell towards the tail end of his tenure and not at the start of it. Also, something almost every adaptation of Flash hasn't gotten right: the Legacy component. If there was any character who represents Legacy better than anyone in the DCU, it's Flash, as almost every major generation has had a Flash to call their own. Kids of the depression and wartime had Jay Garrick, Baby Boomers had Barry, Gen X and Millennials had Wally. And all three of these guys form the backbone of an extended family. Barry and Wally are practically father/son, Jay is the Grandpa, Bart is the young and impetuous one, Max Mercury is the wisest and oldest of the speedsters, Johnny and Jesse Quick are like distant relatives who come to visit, etc. I feel a proper Flash movie series needs to tap into that to some extent. The main cruz for the movies is about building, maintaining and living up to that legacy. I think there should be two trilogies to build off of. First Trilogy Barry Movie 1 - Simple Flash movie that establishes his status quo, and rogues gallery. Introducing Iris, a young Wally, the Central City Police Department as recurring supporting characters not unlike the Daily Planet or Bugle staff. The Rogues play supporting villain roles but the main villain is Kilgore trying to assimilate Central city. Central premise is all about Barry becoming a known and loved figure in Central City. Movie ends with Wally getting his powers the same way Barry did. Movie 2 - Barry now mentors a young Wally who is his biggest fan as they take out various criminals and introduce Reverse Flash who serves as a narrative foil to Wally, as both of them look up to the same guy, Barry. Takes place 2 years after the first. Movie 3 - Second film Thawne returns with a plan to destroy Barry's life and gathers the other Rogues who have suffered constant humiliation at the hands of Flash and decide to work together to stop him. This story takes elements from both Flash: Rogue War and The Trial of The Flash. It also includes the Flash family who come to help against Reverse Flash and the Rogues. The trilogy ends in a climatic showdown between the Rogues and Speedsters. If this were part of a shared universe, then Barry would return in a JL movie where he would sacrifice himself and Wally takes on his mantle. Second Trilogy Wally Movie 1 - Basically an inverse of the first movie, Wally, whose identity is public as the second Flash, has all the expectations levied on him, and he fails to live up to them. The villain is Vandal Savage who sells drugs to any criminal looking to buy and using them to commit robberies for him. These robberies incriminate Flash whose reputation is already very shaky. His sole allies are Jay Garrick, former rogue Pied Piper and Linda Park who know he wasn't responsible and they investigate the truth to clear his name and stop Savage. Movie 2 - This film establishes the Speed Force and expands the Flash family, introducing Jay Garrick who was setup at the beginning of Barry's trilogy as the hero who inspired him, Max Mercury, and Jesse Quik. The enemies are secret cabal named Kobra, who push the family to its limits. Movie 3 - Based on Return of Barry Allen in which Barry seemingly returns and Wally wonders what place he has as a the current active Flash and if he was a worthy successor to Wally. As "Barry" continues to perform his duties, he becomes more and more unhinged and unfamiliar, until it is learned he was actually Eobard Thawne impersonating Barry and making sure he's the only Flash left by murdering every other Speedsters. The final showdown is between two men who will define the Flash's future forever. The perfect imitation with corrupted intentions, or the imperfect but genuine heir? Just a general jist of what I would do for the Flash.

Godspeed was done *so dirty* in the CW show. When he appeared in the comics, everyone was going crazy (in a good way) and people championed for him to a appear in the CW show… until he unfortunately did. But the Rogues were also done dirty. Most of them only appeared in the first 2-3 seasons as kinda primary threats but eventually either left the show (Captain Cold, Heatwave, Golden Glider, etc.) or died!

I have no clue why Flashpoint is the go to story for Flash adaptations, it's one of my least favorite Flash stories, the entire concept just feels wrong to me. Barry's mother being dead was a retcon, it wasn't a thing until 2009's Flash Rebirth and Barry's parents actually made appearances in flash comics including a storyline where Henry was possessed by the Top in the early 80s. So, it's weird that Barry saving his mom, a character who originally didn't die, causes this edgy alternate timeline that dooms the entire planet. The whole story just feels kinda forced and the retcon that Barry's mother is dead kind of damages the character in my opinion. He didn't become a forensic scientist and a superhero because of a tragedy, he became those things because he wants to help people, looked up to Jay Garrick, had a love for science, and had a hopeful outlook on the future, believing good would always prevail and wanted to assist in achieving that future. Then they traded that for your typical hero origin of dead parents. Wally West is also criminally underutilized in live action adaptations. He's only appeared in the CW show where he became Kid Flash in Season 3 and then basically left the show in Season 4, only making cameo appearances after that. He appeared on Legends for a time and was great there but that was for like half a season. Wally West just IS the Flash for me, he's one of, if not the, first sidekicks to actually take up the mantle of his mentor and one of the few that actually surpassed his mentor in the role. This was The Flash in two of the best runs of the character, the Mark Waid and Geoff Johns runs, this was where we introduced to the Speed Force, this is when the Flash Family truly started, this is when the Rogues truly became the rogues, this is the version of the Flash that practically made everything we love about the character other than the name, costume, and basic powerset. He's also typically a lot more no-nonsense than Barry was which I know sounds weird considering how he's portrayed in the DCAU has basically effected how everyone views Wally but he's actually very pragmatic and practical with how he uses his powers, not really delaying in his actions or doing anything that could be deemed unnecessary, typically taking the direct approach, he gets the job done, THAT'S Wally. He's not overly serious or anything, he still has times where he acts before thinking and he still has a sarcastic sense of humor, but he still is a lot more of an action first kind of character when it comes to heroics. I feel like the DCU should give Wally the respect he deserves.

IF they are going to make Wally the only main Flash i wonder which Love Interest there going to give him. I mean i know comic fans want Linda even though shes pretty overrated but the general public most likely wants Artemis. if there using Barry I want them to use Jessica Cruz since they're interactions and friendship in the comics are very cute and I mean come on they even met their future kids together if that doesnt say something idk what will.

I'd prefer Linda Park, she's probably one of the best versions of the civilian love interest in comics. She starts out as a pseudo-antagonist to Wally as a reporter at odds with the Flash, already giving them an interesting dynamic from the start. Then there's the fact that Wally for a long time in the comics didn't have a secret identity which basically removes the whole "hero hides his identity from his love interest" cliche that has grown so tiring and kinda problematic at times. Wally was reluctant to start dating Linda because he felt that if he entered a public relationship with her she'd be a target, despite this danger Linda chooses to be with Wally leading to probably one of the most stable relationships in comics that makes you totally believe in the power of their love that allows Linda to do things like save Wally from the speed force. I don't see how she's overrated, if anything she's heavily underrated considering I'm pretty sure no one outside of comic readers would actually know her as her only other appearance was in the Arrowverse which is basically a completely different character as a love interest for Barry who is Doctor Light on Earth-2.

@@T3aseW1thease I can't tell if this is supposed to be a criticism of Linda or not but I don't see how her being similar to Lois Lane is a bad thing. Most civilian love interests are inspired by Lois Lane because she's Lois Lane, she is THE civilian love interest. She's everything you'd want in that type of character, determined and courageous in the face of difficultly, persistent in her beliefs, independent, intelligent, proactive, compassionate, and vulnerable. Any civilian love interest that takes from that and manages to succeed at being that is already a phenomenal love interest and Linda has a lot of those characteristics.

Pretty unlikely honestly. Gunn seems to be having the heroes of the DCU be pre-established, so if Barry is going to be the Flash in the start of the DCU, he's likely not going to be in Year One, probably around Year 7-10 by the time Superman Legacy comes out.

I know Everyone wants Barry or Wally to be the main dcu Flash but what about Bart Allen/Impulse? obviously after Barry or Wally dies/retires but come on I mean he was the main Flash on Smallville. and it would be something fresh and different and the movie could focus on Impulse struggling wether if he wants to be the next Flash or if he wants to stay as Impulse.

Personally I'd prefer Barry(hes my favourite Flash)and Wally as a second option and while I love Bart hes not quite synonymous with the title and it would make sense to go with Barry who's more known by the general audience or Wally whose yet to receive a proper live action run and has the best Flash stories

And the whole plot was *FLASPOINT*ever heard of it?He messed up the timeline which changes stuff(for example in cw when flash created flashpoint while saving his mom.he made changes to timeline which resulted in new people to be introduced such as Diggle's child.baby Sarah became baby Jhon.thats why there were many new people such as Batman.The reason for Supergirl,genaral Zod and Foaraza is because of time travel.think next time you complain🥱 Look,I'm not saying its the best but,it's not the worst.
