Yeah, it really is disappointing. Very few knew they were playing and many who did didn’t know where they could watch the game. My kids watched parts of the game on tv with me and had no clue what tournament they were in, what countries were in it and what they were playing for. It should be plastered all over social media, insta, etc. especially on the heels of the World Cup. And I’ll call-out this podcast too. Craig slept through a good chunk of this game and Wonger didn’t even know what teams made the semi finals. They all need to be better.

Why 13,000? Craig nailed it. I went down with three friends who thoroughly enjoyed it. We talked about the fact that, unless I'd told them, they wouldn't have known. They talked about bringing another 4 or 5 buddies for the next game. Whenever that is. It's not the product. It's the awareness. I firmly believe that the one soccer exclusivity is destroying any chance at a wider audience. It is a relic from a time when any money into the program was desperately needed. It is now effectively hiding this exciting team from not only casual fans but real avid sports fans.

Not exclusive as Nations League rights were available to anyone to buy from Concacaf last fall. There was only 1 bidder. Due in part to cord cutting, TSN let all their Concacaf rights expire during 2019-20. Given any info is available, not knowing about the match is a media diet issue. Tv is now only a slice of the media and for those under 30, it doesn't make their top 5 ways to consume media.

So much to enjoy about your podcast. I truly appreciate what everyone adds, great knowledge and the diversity of character is awesome and so fun to listen to. Lets go Canada, why not us!! I got to meet Craig 31 years ago in Edmonton, when we played Australia. Having met so many pro's living in Edmonton, he was the first star footballer I had met, and didn't disappoint. That team was oh so close. Thank you Craig for being a true sports hero.

When I was a young pup, I worked at a summer camp in the USA. There were plenty of staff from the Scotland. One lunch in the chow hall we had all the kids chanting “jobbie, jobbie, jobbie”. The camp director (being Scottish) had a brain aneurysm

Gotta love Wong channeling his inner Obama, talking about audacity and hope. The audacity of hope! LOL Richie is the Dillon Brooks of the CanMNT- you love him when he’s on our team, but you hate him when he’s on the other team. You used to have to hold your breath when substitutions used to be made because the drop-off would be so steep. Now you have guys from Marseille and Inter casually coming off of the bench for Canada. #strides
Luckily for the brass band it sounded more then 13,000 at the game

Great pod guys. I for 1 miss the Premie Leage coverage James , Craig , and Deech provided. I still think you guys had fantastic chemistry and some of the stories that Deech and Craig told bout life in the Prem were priceless. l am lookin forward to Canadas exploits in the World cup. At this point we are a better overall side than the US. This bothers them....really bad....lol

Spot on analysis, gents. Proof positive as we discussed the same issues (teams speed, depth, Bombito’s play, Laryea’s dark arts, etc.) live, during the match yesterday. Which got me thinking that I’m going to start a podcast with eps that are released before your eps, since we come to the same conclusions. Will probably be called ‘Footy Alpha The Podcast’. Later…off to poach JC.

Eagerly anticipating the Nations League matches in March. We can dominate the medium-level nations in CONCACAF now, no questions there. Now we need to learn how to soundly defeat a team who's whole goal is to try to fuck us up the entire match, as Mexico did that last friendly. If they or the US try to play us even-steven, we win. It's learning how to still beat either when they come out to try and play the most garbage football they can. We weren't quite there yet in that Mexico friendly, but now that we've had a taste of what playing against that is like, hopefully Marsch & Co. can put together a tactical plan to annihilate it.

You guys mentioned what a massive advantage that we will have in the World cup in 2026, because we will be the home team. Well, the biggest problem with the Nations League & Gold cups, is that it all favours the Americans, big time! Over 95% of their matches are played at home. Canada probably plays less than 15% at home. The Copa Americas matches were all played in the U.S. this year & the playoffs in the 2026 World cup will be played there too. When ranking teams, nobody talks about that huge advantage. The Americans do not play well on the road. Just look at the 2022 CONCACAF Qualifiers for the World cup, where teams played each other team home & away. Canada finished #1. The U.S. tied Costa Rica for 4th place in points. Look at what just happened in these quarter finals in the Nations League cup in the past week. The 4 favourite teams (Canada, USA, Mexico & Panama) all played much better at home than they did on the road; but still, the semifinals & finals will be played in the USA. Canada has the best record in the semifinals & overall this year, so the semifinals should be played in Canada... FIFA & CONCACAF are only driven by greed & Money. Then, there should really be some kind of a handicap for rankings, for teams playing on the road in all CONCACAF tournaments, because rankings matter, as FIFA rankings help determine how difficult a group that countries will finally end up in, for the 2026 World cup. Canada ended up in the 'Group of Death' in the 2022 World cup, partially because of their poor ranking, despite having finished #1 in the Qualifiers...

Yeah, if you're in the international soccer bubble you know about these games, but the casual viewer probably didn't. Also, cachet-obsessed Toronto fans probably deem Suriname to be too small potatoes. I wish these games were played in a city that actually CARES.
@stephenasmith7861Ай бұрын
13,000? What a dismal crowd. Like Craig, it appears most of Toronto didn't watch it either. Play somewhere other than where all you guys live. Vancouver, perhaps????

@jrcanuck1Ай бұрын
@@janicecramer1595, plus Canada played really well in the 1st half of that match, so Canada has only played poorly in one half game since Marsch has arrived. Then the boys went on to get a 0-0 draw with France, who were giving their best, in preparation for the upcoming UEFA European Championship at that time.
