Top story of the year: Little Jimmy transforms into Big Jimmy

My three are the hiring of Jesse Marsch and the Copa run, the CPL final (Cavs emotional first win, a fantastic game / spectacle to get on CBC, and speaking personally, getting to meet the Footy Prime crew), and the NSL announcement (teams, logos, players, etc). Really hoping all of these are the long term legacy of 2024 for Canadian soccer and not the drone scandal, MediaPro leaving or the Whitecaps going up for sale.

The hiring of Kevin Blue is for me the biggest story of the year. Without him, there is no Jesse Marsch. I also think that the early positive momentum he created, gave Canada Soccer plausible deniability and probably reduced the overall friction that could have happened if he wasn’t hired.

I'm a hockey guy. I never played pro, but played at a decent level. Now I coach and my 2 sons play. One night my entire family was passionately sitting on the couch watching Canada play Venezuela. This wasn't normal as my kids are typically on their devices and my wife generally wouldn't care what was on TV. But then, the moment brought us together. We watched David to Shaffelburg...then Rondon brilliantly and devastatingly launched one over the pressing Crepeau. And then there was the shootout. We were all on the edge of our seats. I still think about Liam Millar's miss followed by him scratching his head with both hands. My history of watching Canada play was they were somehow going to blow this one. But Crepeau's cold stare of confidence after making a brilliant save was settling. Davies nailing one top corner and Kon-eh with the game winning goal. What a moment it was. And yes, Blue set it all in motion with the hiring of Marsch.

@@mccullochmikeagree that was quite the moment there, never was nervous af in a penalty shootout will say!!!… and another great moment was beating 🇵🇪 in the Copa, albeit in an ungly win/game, not to mention that it’s my country of origin and the fact that it serve to quiet down all the naysayers down there, that have looked down upon 🇨🇦-⚽️ for years & years and the stigma we r not good in ⚽️ at all (really unnerve over the years) and many close to me, namely this uncle chai-no (who I truly hate), hahaha !

As I said in another comment, beating 🇵🇪 gotta be one, hahaha!!!… for me it had extra significance given my personal ties and dark history I had with 🇵🇪 fans close to me concerning 🇨🇦⚽️, hahaha!!!.. I know not the prettiest of games, but sure did wonders to 🤫!

Michael Buble and 2 billionaire friends buy the Whitecaps, keep it in Vancouver. Start buying Fraser and Thompson whiskey, Buble`s booze.
