Hearing protection is a god damn must. Nice touch showing it in the video. I just bought a new pair of proper 3M ear protectors after having used some cheap no-name home depot style ones and the difference is night and day.

Oh wow! Great to hear the back story of the origin of the KZbin channel idea. Scraped up a ton of floors after Hurricane Harvey here in Houston. Depending on who installed and how, it can be a total war to get it up. Dad watching Jordan ride the bull for the first time was hilarious.

When I use a floor scrubbing machine, I like to set the handles low to about the full length of the extension of my arms. I then find moving slightly up and down with my wrists is all it takes to control the machine.

“ Never know what you’re in for when you’re tearing out a floor” truer words were never spoken! Just today I had a small hall bath (about 30 sq ft) tear out, ceramic tile came up in pieces about the size of cornflakes and thinset stayed on the concrete slab. Took about 4 hours with a demo hammer and chisel bit for the tile and thinset. Nightmare!!

It seems to me you have hit upon a great format for your KZbin channel with the added bonus of father and son working together. I built a Pise earth brick house (I had to make 8,500 bricks one at a time), that was decades ago and the last time I did any serious building. It is great to see the use of new tools that were not available in my construction days. No battery tools, electricity was not available until half the way into the build as I built in the bush and had to wait and pay for power to be connected to the nearest available power about 1500 metres away. So for a long time it was hand tools only. That experience has contributed to my enjoyment and gaining of knowledge from your channel. Best wishes from Australia.

Watching you with the floor grinder reminded me of a years long project. We remodeled an old Scottish Rite building and turned into a church with a lot of sweat equity. The two main rooms were nearly 6000 square feet with glued down carpet. No cat pee but years of cigarette smoke and spilled drinks. In the end we polished the concrete and it turned out very nicely. We're looking forward to seeing the flooring go down. Good luck.

just a tip from someone who has done many years of flooring take up: if the full width of the blade will not plow through try hitting with less of the blade width. Doing so focuses more force on a smaller area of the blade. Those hard stopped impacts will wear you out faster/ bigger potential for injury. Hope you can put this info to use! Thanks for all you do!

Back around 2014 I used a similar floor machine arrangement, with a disc that had 2-3 inch long diamond coated blades, rigid mounted with no springs. Me and my buddy named that thing "the Mangler" because it would actively try to kill us every time we used it. I'm impressed with that spring-loaded thing! I wish we had one like it back then.

I feel like yall are working alongside me. I got the concrete scraper from your last vid. Got that done while you were doing cabinets and then I used similar machine in this vid last weekend. Mine was a lot bigger, but I had an 1.5 inches of thinset. It did not work for that level of thickness of thinset so SDS to the rescue then used the machine. I would have liked one that could move left to right without manhandling. I got abs just from maneuvering it.

Okay, the parts with Jordan throwing ear protectors on his dad made me LMAO. Good looking out, Jordan! I spent 7 years in the Marine Corps. I had never waxed a floor nor used a floor buffer before that. By the time that I got out, I could run a floor buffer with the efficiency & ease of a Formula 1 race car driver navigating their favorite track. Paul is right on when he says, "It takes very little touch." I used to always tell the Privates/PFCs to start by finding that balance where it just spins in one spot. It will start moving at the slightest tip either up or down from that balancing point. Push further/harder and it will move towards whichever side faster. Don't rely on the wheels to stop sideways movement; they get swung up out of the way once you start buffing, or scraping in Stud Pack's case. Keep up the good work, guys!

I'm sure there's a good reason, I'm just wondering why. Seems the dovetail would be a key feature to highlight,; but I ain't the one building them...lol...I trust your judgment...just curious...those cabinets seem to work great. Looking back do you still think that they are are good value considering the labor? As always... nice job!

You need a bigger air compressor. You have enough pressure but you need more volume. I used a 3/4" air gun to take the tires off of my big truck but because the hose was so long and I was just using the volume produced by the truck's air compressor, the air gun was only productive for the first second and then just made noise. I just gave it a one-second burst and then stopped and waited for 5 seconds before giving it another burst until the lug nut came loose.
