Today we had a rescue job in as we transformed these russell and bromley shoes. Theyy belong to a pilot and he wanted vibram soles adding to these leather soled shoes.

I sympathise with you, we were robbed in February and it is the worst feeling. We were able to watch the crook take our prized possessions and dump them in his stolen Ute before leaving. The police were polite but only because we had video that would help them to convince a judge to issue a warrant. Luckily they caught him and the insurance has paid out but it will take time to take the feeling away. I wish you a speedy recovery! Great video also, thanks.

Putting a Vibram sole onto a pilot's shoes is, IMHO, a perfect restoration. Leather soles are great for formal, business, and dress occasions. But not for everyday wear in the aviation environment. A pilot needs to do a "walk around" of their aircraft prior to every flight. In every sort of weather condition, and on a surface that might be wet, icy, and slippery with aviation fluids. And that Vibram sole is perfect for this application. A pilot isn't going to be walking for hundreds of miles (hopefully!) - he just needs a sole with excellent grip. On a shoe that's going to be comfortable for hours in the cockpit. But is also going to be smart and formal enough to match the professional appearance pilots need to maintain for their passengers. Kudos on a great job.

Really sorry to hear about your break-in, I had someone do it to me last year, they stole a lot of tools etc. from the garage. Contrary to the public conception the police were excellent and the culprit is now in prison. The only good thing is that your insurance will reimburse you for all your losses. Mine was very understanding and helpful and so financially I didn't suffer.

Doing a "shoe care" video is a great idea! Proper shoe care was one of those things that was taught by parent to child but sadly is one of those things that have been forgotten over time. A good quality shoe will last you years if properly maintained. Repeatedly buying cheaper shoes and disposing of them when they are worn out after a year or two is far more expensive than buying quality and properly maintaining and repairing them when needed.
