The cruise is included in the total. It was separated by a third to accommodation, eating out and traveling. We used points for our flights, and the taxes and fees are included in the breakdown. Not sure if you've touched on this in previous videos but would love to see a video on banking/brokerage accounts outside of Canada. Any thoughts on BCE "pausing" dividend increases? A lot of people have lost a fortune on the stock price decrease this year and now BCE is no longer a dividend aristocrat. A dividend stock that doesn't increase, at least with inflation, is very problematic for retirees.
@FIREWeGoАй бұрын
This is true. We have about a 3% position in BCE ourselves. At this point, we are not planning any drastic moves. They aren't increasing the dividend... but they also haven't cut the dividend... so we are playing a waiting game. What about yourself? Do you hold BCE?
@rickmorris3580Ай бұрын
@@FIREWeGo BCE is my 3rd biggest holding at 14% (BNS and VFV (S&p500 index) are #1 and #2 in my portfolio). I did a lot of work over the past year to move to dividend aristocrats/kings. I'm not planning on any drastic moves either but concerned that BCE has lost sight of what kind of stock they are, one rogue CEO can cause a lot of damage. I like the idea of getting a footprint in the USA but not growing or even cutting the dividend for years to build that footprint is worrying. I guess there's no such thing as safe and predicable stock.
@FIREWeGoАй бұрын
This is so true. We are still at the mercy of the leadership of these companies at the end of the day. We are hopeful that this is only a pause, and the dividends will resume growing in the future🤞

I think our eating out budget will also be the highest once we retire as we love to eat good food! I agree that you should spend your money where you enjoy it the most 😉I'm surprised about the travel costs - that's a really good amount. You're in your go-go years so being slightly over budget is fine. What about the improvements to your condo? I guess it's not included in the budget because it's offset by the rental you received from the condo?

Lol, we do love to eat! But we have definitely noticed that the amount we spend on eating out is significantly lower now! Plus, it has been nice to be able to cook some of our favourite foods again! Currently watching your video. Do you still have a homebase in Canada? If so, what would be your total cost of 6 months traveling while keeping your home? Like homeowners insurance car insurance power gas. We will be traveling, in April through mid November 2025 in Europe and Eastern europe starting our KZbin channel and doing monthly budgets while we're over there including our home back in the US . We both really enjoyed your video thank you so much!
@FIREWeGoАй бұрын
Congratulations on the decision to start your channel! You should even strat now, talking about the lead up to, the planning, all that! As for us, we sold everything in Canada, so we don't have a home base there now. We do have one here in Joao Pessoa, Brazil. When we are here, we are including the condo expenses (condo fee, hydro, gas, etc) in our budget. However, when we leave, the condo is used as a rental, so the rent we receive covers the expenses, so we do not count the expense in the months we are not here.
