Overhead bed was an optional extra on the Talent, standard fitting would be like the trophy.

Thank you for opening my eyes to Talent. I very much like the open back. The toilet is so so clever. Will save for a Talent. My Toyota Hiace is from Japan by the Hatanaka corporation

I know this is an old video, but in case you were still a bit baffled by the shape of the front seats in the VW Talent... It's not a Japanese spec, it's just the front seats in the SWB Autosleeper vans with the rear kitchen and no rock'n'roll bed, use the front seats to swivel 180 degrees and make up part of the main (adult) bed, which is why they need to be relative wide and flat. If they used the standard seats, as in the Trophy (or SWB side-kitchen models like the Trident and Trooper), a large part of the main bed in the Talent would be even more uncomfortable! The upper pull-out bed, is really only suitable for small children (or very tiny adults). I'd like to find a nice Trident petrol model with some of those Japanese-spec extras! P.S. The sticker on the door of the cooker basically says "Please don't use the cooker while driving" ...for those that need to be told! 🔥😲

Thanks Dom. thats good Intel and makes perfect sense. And with stickers like the one on the cooker, I always wonder wether it needs saying ? or, is it to avoid litigation from those devious enough to think they can burn their own vehicle down and then claim a fortune from the manufacturer because they 'didn't tell me not to'....... insert act of stupidity here😁

Didn't realise Autosleeper sold abroad.
@ToTheGarage3 ай бұрын
I dont KNOW, but I would assume they would sell to Japan and Australia due to all utilising a RHD base vehicle.

The Exhaust Temp is a Japanese requirement to monitor post-cat gas temps. Warning if too high, cat damaged / ineffective. Had same on my Japanese T4. Simple thermocouple, disconnected and wiring stowed when I replaced the original cat for a new one. Has no input to ECU so no issues.

Hi John, This Video got me vert interested. As you know I have a late March 1996 Automatic Trophy, with what I thought were additions because of its late manufacture. Now I gather it was made to Japanese Spec for its Japanese 1st owner who took it out to Japan for 10 years. It also has electric windows, slide out over cab bed and an XTRONS 16" drop down TV DVD unit. Keep up the good work.

Fantastic Robert. I was wondering if the Talent may have been targeted at the Japanese market (who like more compact vehicles. but great to know the Trophy went out there too. Do you have crazy airbags too?
@1776leonardo4 жыл бұрын
@@ToTheGarage Hi John, no, I don't have air bags anywhere!!! but I do have a ceiling fan-this is just an addition that would go down well in Japan. Does George have one

@@1776leonardo I don’t believe so. I didn’t spot one anyway. I will ask Julian at the weekend.

you could show any autosleeper vw camper van interior from the 1983 T3 up till the last of the T4 in 2003. they never changed nothing same old fake oak units that faded faster than your summer tan.. and same cheap fake brass plastic catches that wore off quickly..
@ToTheGarage4 жыл бұрын
True. Do we have a source of higher quality catches of the same design?
@vanagon19664 жыл бұрын
@@ToTheGarage not sure as i replaced all mine with new ones from Auto-Sleepers..when i had it.. they look about the same design and size i have in my bilbos camper..they are brushed steel ones that are metal..if you look most camper conversions use them so they must be ready available. i would just buy one to see if they fit..
