The mice will easily sell out. The demand definitely exists, you clicked on the video because you want to see a cool mouse. They are objectively super cool mice, there are no cool reskins like these ones on the market today and there are a lot of people in this community that can invest this amount of money. I don’t even think the price is outrageous either. The base mouse is 150-200 euro anyway. The print is definitely super high quality and since there are only 1500x of each, it’s going costs a lot to produce them. If this launch is a success there will definitely be more mice coming, and they will be cheaper because the numbers produced will be larger and the process to produce them will be cheaper.

The cost makes no sense. High estimate is Custom Mold = $15k. Artists: 200hrs x $100/hr = $20k. Let's say assembly/QA/misc chinese labour is 1hr/mouse at $20/hr, another $30k. $600 price - $150 mouse = $450 x 1.5k = $675k. That's over $600,000 per mouse series sold, or $400 PROFIT per mouse.

But even at 25% rev share, and 100% margin for the seller, the mouse should not be more than $500. This doesn't include wholesale pricing for anything, and since it's mice the overhead is super low otherwise.

I do fine art printing as a job for 8 years and we do all the 3d effect stuff too, but it doesn't cost THAT much just to print it on a dinky mouse. At most it will cost more than £50 per print with the 3d effect with layered gloss.

so im guessing they are trying to recouperate the losses from making the injection molds for the designs (but it could also be that theyre actually using silicone molds), since those are really expensive like 5k plus per mold. the end product casing with the bumps and heat resistant paint and coats amounts to something like 7-10€. lets say we have a small batch number so under 5k, even then its only 10-30€. even accounting for provision or anything really, these should not cost more than maybe 270 - 300€, but this is just an assumption.

love the concept and also love the fact that they didn't use stickers or cheap production for the mouse. I know that most of the money are going back to the creators of the skins which is good but still.... price it's too unrealistic for what they are offering (a costume shell for g pro x superlight 2) I know that they include the price of the mouse but we got to remember that the exact mouse can be found on amazon for even less than 100 euros when there is offers. @ I’m sorry that you don’t know how pricing works. The fungible value of the mouse is 170 euro. Since it’s custom made with a low quantity the painting and modeling process is going to be rather expensive. Most of the cost is probably due to a lot of manual labor and renting expensive machines. On top of that the designers spent 200 hours creating art which means a large portion of the profits are going to them. I don’t actually know what the normal profit margins is in these kinds of exclusive items, but 600 euro doesn’t seem unreasonable. It’s doesn’t mean it’s not a lot of money, or that it’s absolutely worth the money, but it’s a fair price. If you are able mass produce these, the price would probably be less than 300, but the low volume makes it much more expensive.

400 dollars more for 3d plastic and some cheap paint added, if the whole thing of plastic was the color, nut just painted on top maybe I would argue it being 100 dollars extra, but this is just a ripoff. don't buy this. the paint is going to wear off over time if the whole plastic is not painted the color (it's inside) and your gonna be sad.
