I live in Long Island, North Shore you should check that out as well, the Long Island Sound, great restaurants, beautiful towns. I found you by watching your Japan vids but shocked you ended up in Flushing, Queens, NYC. Lol. My home. I'm 52 born and raised near Murray Hill. But I have to tell you the truth, it's with very mixed emotions watching this video. Why? Well I guess it's similar to what's happening in parts of England in which newer immigrants (legal and illegal) are moving in to certain areas and, if you will, taking over. That area of Flushing you were drinking (164st/depot road) was entirely white (Irish, Italian, German, Jewish) since the 1950s all the way until the late 90s. By the 2000's it had completely been taken over by Chinese mainlanders. Chinese Developers would come in and buy up all the commercial real estate and homes and basically import Chinese to come live and work. Street by street. Even the local McDonalds was flipped to a Korean BBQ. Lol. Essentially every "American" store and business was converted to Korean and Chinese businesses, only catering to new Asian immigrants. In fact, I tried over the years to enter the very exact bar you went into with your buddy and the REFUSE to let us born n raised American locals in. They tell us we must be "members." The racism that comes from Asian immigrants to American locals in this area should be a national news story, but we're not allowed to complain otherwise we are deemed the racists. It's quite sad, actually. Just about every American family has had to sell their home and leave this once beautiful, quiet safe area because they became strangers in their own homeland. Yes, NYC was always home to immigrants, but they assimilated to Americans. Now it's the opposite. We are being asked to assimilate to the immigrant. And just so nobody can call me a xenophobe reading this, I am from an Irish immigrant family. My parents moved to this area in the late 1960s. They raised us to be proud American kids.

new amsterdam technically wasn't 'captured', it was actually traded in exchange for some tiny islands (banda) in indonesia. we were threatening the dutch militarily but they actually thought that they got the better deal: new york back then was a swamp, mostly trading furs, whereas banda was the early global centre of the (super valuable) spices trade, in particular nutmeg, which was pretty much worth more than its weight in gold back then (i mean literally). so the british got some of the most famous real estate in the world all because of ... nutmeg. the same history gave the name for the centre of the global economy: wall street was where the dutch built their fortifications to keep us out ;) totally unrelated but good shout out on ATCQ!

Not at all, because i'm not a K-pop lover and don't dress like them. If you take a walk round hongdae, you'll see lots of young french kids that are trying to be Korean, it's those people that will be judged as wannabees, by korean-americans and myself!
