When you get the cow in to be milked I would suggest to put the dog on a lead and tie her to a gate so the dog learns to respect the cow and calf space and make sure she is lay down. I trained my sisters dog and my dog to heared sheep and cattle and the number one thing it to get the dog to respect and not to run with the cow. Hope this might help you to train the dog.

A dairy farmer's love for his cows was obvious on your face here as you watched them aboard their love train, friend. Thanks, Randy! Just think, fam. Soon you will have 3 milkers (or 2 milkers and a bull) who will need breeding. And then you will have a herd of 5. I imagine the bull(s) could be traded for an unrelated bull and/or another cow. You may soon become a full fledged dairy farm that does its own breeding via a live in male for the purpose! 😊 Many dairy farmers are keeping their retired cows for several years beyond their milking stage to provide grandma love, "wisdom", and stability for the herd. But, the time comes when they need to make way for the younger grannies, and provide value as meat. It is hard to think about now, but I've read that high end chefs on the west coast are finding great flavor and value in retired dairy cow meat, preferring it to meat from the usual young castrated males.

For a second there when I saw the title I thought you were giving up on milk cows and were selling or giving away Dolly and Maisy, relieved to see you're still giving another chance with Randy! Randy genuinely seems like a down to earth person and I hope he manages to get some good results for you guys despite the many times the AI you tried didn't work this past year and we'll all be missing Dolly and Maisy but it's worth it if this works. It was so nice to see Randy meet Bamboo in real life, couldn't have imagined he was that small to begin with when he was in the diapers when you see him now! Also, although the price was giving away one of your calves I think it's a good deal and worth it if you can still get another calf out of it and also the milk that Masla produces! Can't wait for the results and can't wait for new on the garage!

OMG! Look at the massive adult emu now! It's a Big Bird! Your Chinese ducks are stunning. Cows going to another farm is a nice clean way of telling the kids they're off to the kill floor. My niece had Cassie the calf while in elementary school and her step dad says to me and her mom, she's not having a cow pet! Then Cassie disappeared one day while she was at school, uh, the next day it was. I was like, she knows you scooted Cassie off to the kill floor and she's mad. He got very angry and our friendship fell out over it for I was you're not her dad and some kids do love their cows when they have just one and the place was 25 acres out in the country. He didn't let her kids play a single video game and yep, ran them both off when they got into high school over playing a console game system in their bedrooms. You guys have a lovely family going on! I'm happy for you. I wish my family over in Macon, Missouri not far from you were a nice family, but so many of our familes are dysfunctional that came out of the heartland.

I was hoping that this was the reason you were saying goodbye to Dolly and Maisie! This is a good reason! Plus it’s only temporary. I like Randy. I remember seeing his comment and I’m so pleased that it was genuine help being offered. I know that it will be difficult to give up one of the calves that result from Randy’s help, but I think that it is a fair price considering how much difficulty you have had in trying to get them both pregnant. When the calves are born, I would immediately pick which one is going to Randy so that you can try to not get too attached! If that’s possible! Well, here in Australia, it is now Christmas Day! Another use for cream is making scones. 3 cups Self Raising flour (or add 1 tablespoon of baking powder to all purpose flour) 1 cup cream 1 cup lemonade (sprite or similar) Dump everything in a bowl, mix and once it forms a wet dough turn it out onto either a greased baking tray or floured bench for shaping. Bake at approx 350F or 180C for 15- 20 minutes until golden brown. Serve with your favourite jams and whipped cream.
