God needed you there in that place at that time. It wasn’t a coincidence! You two are heroes to that lady and her family!! You are Good Samaritans!! Thank you!! Been to Maui many times. Done that drive only once. Absolutely the worst drive I’ve ever done in my entire life. The sites are absolutely amazing and the black and red sand beaches toward the end are breathtaking, but that 3 hour (one way) drive is terrible. Edit: God bless you both for helping that lady! I joke with my sister who is a newly retired AMR paramedic that the only reason she goes on vacations is to rescue people in other places. Always be prepared as you never know when you’ll be the one to help someone in their time of need. (Do we need to form a fund raising for serious real wet hiking/beach shoes?)

Amazing rescue! God sent that lady two angels to help her. Although you said she was okay, I hope EMS sent her for a CT as a precaution. I work in Neurology and we see a lot of people who are “found down” and it turns out that they had stroke, then fell. Chris mentioned that her speech was slurred-which is a sign of a stroke. I pray she is doing well. 🙏

My wife and did the road to Hana 50 years ago. We had to rent a jeep to navigate the route. There was no guides to use so we missed a lot. But it was still an unforgettable experience. Hana was really rural back then and not a lot to it.

Beautiful trip. LOOOOVE the views of the ocean. So pretty. And that gorge...whoa! I am living vicariously thru you guys since i will never be able to physically do the hikes (but i do have a cool rollater that lights up named SKY ..skywalker. ha! ) and am enjoying watching you all have so much enjoyment on your adventures. ...even with the lack of lost idols and masses of snakes . Loved the Road to Hana and all the banyan trees. I did find out that Dramamine gives me heartburn on our trip so that wasn’t as helpful for the motion sicknesses. What an amazing Hawaiian adventure.

Chris Amanda great video is always really enjoyed it. Just one thing I have to tell you as a Hawaii resident when you entered that lava tube I was very worried. I don't know if you're aware of this but all of the islands have feral pigs on them and they tend to hide in those types of caves.

@@provostparkpass to be fair I don't know the ranges on Maui I live on Oahu and I was pretty sure you guys were going to be okay because the cave look close to the roads and the pigs tend to prefer to be deeper in the forest. If you get the chance I highly recommend seeing Haleakala in the morning

Probably because they drove the back way to Hana and went the route that rental car companies do not permit you to drive on without violating the car rental agreement. They're pretty lucky that everything worked out.

My family drove on most of the Road to Hana in 2005 when i went to Hawaii as my make a wish , wish however it was very rainy all day but it was still beautiful

We have driven the road to Hana several times and have NEVER started on the other side and drove around the way you did. Very interesting to see it done in the opposite direction... You guys are adventurous!! Most of the places you went to would have been off My list because of fear LOL. The Lava Tube was way to dark and scary, but amazing to see it thru the eyes of your camera... flip flops !!! You guys needed some hiking shoes!! Thanks for the adventure and amazing you were at the right place at the right time and helped that lady.. definately something to remember always, your being there literally changed what could have been for this lady.

I loved this! I spent my last pre-covid birthday in Maui and ended up doing a self driven Road to Hana in a mustang convertible (thanks to a very nice rental agent). It was the best part of the trip! Went on amazing hikes and had the best banana bread ever at one of the stops.
