Absolutely!!! This is pretty much a Jazz baseline which she kills with ease. Have read she plays jazz for warmups and there are also videos of her Teacher Pablo González Sarre teaching her jazz licks on the bass when she was like 10 years old or something. She is a masterful musician, deserves a whole more praise and props.

This cover is a masterclass in restraint from all of the sisters. Sunglasses- Ale wears hers a lot, too indoors during interviews. I feel it’s entirely due to their relentless touring schedule and they literally have circles under their eyes and at the same time, have to give the skin around their eyes a beak from heavy makeup. Dani’s eyes are more almond shaped and gets by with some eyeliner. Plus it seems like normal light to us watching but studio lights are intense.

There is dignity (and decent money) in being an excellent session musician like a Carol Kaye (bassist) or Vinnie Colaiuta (drums). Carol Kaye played with just about every L.A. area band, and recorded tracks for around 10,000 songs - she's 89! Vinnie has played for so many different acts, I imagine he's a bit dizzied by it all. So I don't see boredom when the ladies are in the studio. I see *concentration* rather than their usual theatrical performance. A lot of musicians get into a zone where they are totally absorbed in what they're playing, especially if it's new material they don't play every night, yet. Like NBA star Steph Curry sinking 3-pointers, great musicians let their instincts take over. Ale and Pau were in that zone, physically connected to their instruments and mentally connected to the music and each other. It was a masterful cover! And remember, the primary medium of Sirius XM is satellite car radio, which does not have video!

For years, I always heard “It’s not fair to deny me of the cross-eyed bear…” 🤣 As usual, the ladies slayed it!! I know that they have pretty much moved on from using covers as a “crutch” (and rightfully so, since their original material is some of THE BEST modern hard rock music out there today!), but I PERSONALLY would love to see them release a full-on covers album…like 14 tracks covering various artists, especially those who have influenced them. Muse, Heart, Queen, Alanis, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, etc. I’d purchase that in a heartbeat.

Need to emphasize Ale playing the Bass here as if it's nothing when it's epic; you can plainly hear the influence of Ale's idol, legendary Bassist Jaco Pastorius, widely considered the greatest Bass player of all time. Ale's been listening to/ playing like Jaco most of her life; definitely shows. I love Rock and Jazz; I could tell upon first hearing Ale that she's a world-class Jazz Bassist playing Rock. A video of Ale playing Jaco's legendary, incredibly difficult, "Donna Lee" at 12 confirmed it. Ale wasn't trying to play it; she just played it. Ale stated in a September interview with "Guitar World: Bass Player" that Jaco is her greatest musical inspiration. Ale started playing Jaco's entire catalog at 9 (totally mind-bending). Ale plays Jazz during warm-ups.

​@@ottokirk2325 There are videos of a tiny Ale with tiny hands at 9; she's playing Funk and slaps a 4 string Bass and a massive 6 string Bass. The only reason Ale doesn't slap now is the same reason Ale doesn't do lots of things; no The Warning songs call for it, and Ale remains true to herself. Ale loves clean Jazz/ clean Jazz Fusion, not Funk. Ale never feels a need to prove anything to anyone. I had intensive classical training in art, in all modern forms, and in music. Nothing annoys artists more than someone trying to prove they're very talented. I can tell if someone's talented. Musicians hit you over the head with technique serving no purpose to serve their egos. Great artists, like Ale is, don't do anything that isn't about the music they create/ perform and the immersion of the audience.

It's funny because I really didn't like Alanis Morissette much when this came out, but 4 or 5 years later, I couldn't get enough.😄 The Warning has a tendency to grow on people the same way, although I saw their potential very early on, like 2016 or 2017, because of their similarities to some of the 70's and 80's rock icons I used to listen to. They had a brief interview at the 2023 MTV VMA's, in addition to their performance of "More" and "Evolve" where they were asked to reveal something of one of their sisters that folks might not know. Dany said that Pau is "blind," meaning she has poor vision and does seem to like to protect her eyes when she can. No way Pau's delivery can do this justice- had to be Dany on vocals.
