Am I the only one that can't stop watching the demo of the brass sound? Jack's joy playing it is infectious AND everything about that lick at the end is just so stinking good. I don't play synth often, but I'm thinking about picking one of these up just for that sound and the creativity that the arpeggiator inspires!

I was going to take mine back and get the Jupiter-X when it comes out, but I'm keeping it for the portability. Jack, please do a video with layering sounds. Once people "get" the Jupiter-Xm, they'll stop scratching their heads about Roland's choices on portability. It also fills a void I didn't know I had as a platform. I own almost a dozen synths and a billion soft synths! Look at the smiles of anyone who plays this. It's a creative synth player's dream!

hopefully obtaining a hydra synth, i have had a lesser amount of respect for roland lately. but this line of synths does kinda make me want one :D i love the idea of having a drum track baked into the synth. i have a small JDXI, and its fun. very quirky, and way too menu diving for sound design. but as a rompler, it seems to do its job. hopefully ill be able to use my JDXI as a 808/ drum sequencer/ FX/ Risers, and my minilogue and hydra can be the bass/lead etc. this jupiter XM seems like such a powerful performance tool :D hopefully we see more of this kind of thing from roland, but it has to be worked on and improved upon. lol not just the same thing but with more plug out type synths. idk. maybe im being harsh, but i find their way of releasing synths to be soo weird. the same models over and over. the past two years have been a step in the right direction (credit is due)

At 7:38 , the top lead pad is a sound off the jv1080 which i remember using waaaay waaay back in the day. The AI flavoured arpeggiator is what this is all about. Combined with all the various synth engines, and you have a megasonic machine. This particular one is a tad small , but the full fat 61 keys one is ✊

love the jack approach with his gear demos; want to love the Roland JXM but... why half pregnant. Why not 4 octaves OR desktop module only AND more importantly why no friggen after touch on the key deck (seriously?!). love the sound, love the concept of models (I am a guitarist so the world of digital sims of old school "models" resonates), intrigued by the idea of AI for apeggio but heyzeus Roland, this is a miss for me in terms of hardware. just purchased a DSI REV2 instead.

John The MODX is definitely a better overall value, but this is a good value, as well. I think comparing almost any current synth to a MODX isn’t a fair comparison. I personally think the MODX line is the best bang-for-the-buck synth available.

Could I make edm like dark synthwave type growling fast bpm type beats with this ? Like the jdxi has an analog feature and it can make me have a pretty good song I like those straight to the point synthwave party ish dark ish tracks like modern ish type growling bass. Like dark house synthwave. Think 5:33 I love that house sounding slap bass sounding stuff. Modern stuff so I guess it can do that. It’s way more expensive than the jdxi too I really want it too bc it has speakers. And battery powered. So it has an all analog feature on it ? I’m new to this haven’t really searched its modes lol !

No $1500 for rolands iconic synth engines of the Jupiter 8, Juno 106, the jp-8, the Xv 5080, RD sounds, tr 808,909,707,606,and tons of others plus the new I-arpeggiator. I just bought one and can say that to compare it to a 90s Casio is ridiculous. This thing is a beast. The mixture of digital and analog engines with their warmth and power is sonic heaven.

I don't understand Roland. This is clearly a powerful instrument and they make it with mini keys?
@Alleroc
@Alleroc 4 жыл бұрын
The way I look at is, they figure this version makes sense to people who have other larger sized keyboards. Myself, I have a Kronos, so I don't need another huge keybed sitting around taking up space, so for me it makes more sense to buy this version, and save myself money on top of that (when compared to the full size Jupiter X).
@littlemouse7066
@littlemouse7066 4 жыл бұрын
@@Alleroc Ok but why mini keys? I hate them. the keyboard is already small they could have used normal sized keys considering that for some applications like electronic based music you can use a small keyboard as your only keyboard (especially for recording). and if you really think you don't need a keybed you can put out a module. By the way my compliments for the Kronos it's a great instrument.

@todd t well it's an analog emulated best of roland compilation keyboard. It's not even using rolands ACB technology. It's overly reliant on menu diving. Not sure if that qualifies as a beast of a Jupiter and juno. Suspect the boutiques actually have a closer sound and more hands on control. However I think the main thing people are reacting to is this iArp thing which is somewhat reminiscent of the old yamaha one finger accompaniment features their keyboards from the 80s and 90s had. TBH if Roland want to badge this as a professional instrument they would have been better served by implementing a Multi part step sequencer instead. Just MHO

Jack magnificent as always But I'm not sure about the concept of this keyboard #Genosmarket. True Yamaha did something similar with the MOXF but this just feels a bit too gimmicky with the auto accompaniment function maybe it's purpose is to spark ideas but I was hoping for something new and cutting edge. Looks like Roland have dropped the ACB technology and replaced it with this new synth engine which essentially does the same thing. Personally not impressed with this especially being asked to hand over £1300 for a synth with nothing obviously new and with mini keys. I'm hoping it's big brother due in the new year will have something more to offer.

Rick Brown I don’t think you grasp what this instrument is. It’s not about the arpeggiator/accompaniment. It’s about the multiple, modeling synth engines. If you think it is the same market as the Genos you’re way off base. It has amazing sound capabilities. Juno and Jupiter, and JV/XP among them ... It a sound module with a bonus keyboard thrown in. I’m sure you don’t get it, actually, based on your entire post.

Having spent only 1 hour @ pmt with the XM, I can say what a massive disappointment this synth is, no improvement with the poly count , still only 8 notes per level, 32 notes max unless you use the Xv or RD engine, note stealing on half the presets, the knobs constantly saying no assignment, it didn’t leave a good first impression...
