Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries before 2020 and all 7 continents, we have no plans to slow down anytime soon, and we are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Hey Nate, something you said about the quietness in the cave made me want to send you a note-I hope you see this. If you hear ringing or whooshing or humming when you’re in a very quiet place, you probably have the condition called tinnitus, like I do. I used to think that air itself had a “sound.” It wasn’t until my dad mentioned that he had tinnitus that I began to wonder about my own hearing. Look around the internet read up on it. It doesn’t hurt you, and you can’t really fix it. It;s just something to know about yourself. My husband and I love your adventures! Keep posting, stay healthy, and “hi” to Kara.

I'd like to say I'm also a budget international traveller - though at the moment more domestic travel (because... yknow... Covid 😉) but I'd prefer to spread the $1,000 out across a week or 2 of lots of cheaper adventures than to splurge it on 1 night. It's nice to know where Kara and Nate started - similar position to ourselves and they've worked their way to this point where it doesn't have to be one or the other. I should have picked a profession that wasn't teaching! 🤦‍♀️

We quit our jobs to travel right before the pandemic 🤦🏼‍♀️ yes not best timing but we have gotten to live abroad the past 8 months and have gotten to live in Japan, Turkey, Ukraine, Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia so far. Not our original plan but so grateful for everyplace we have gotten to travel to. We are definitely more modern backpacking style 😁 but we love our minimalist lifestyle abroad 😃 This cave was super cool but I think we would choose our a month living abroad over 1 day in the cave but LOVE living vicariously through them 😁 is the best!! Don’t give up on chess. I learned at age 11 and it’s something I can go back to whenever the mood strikes, especially after watching The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix. I taught kids as young as 4 because I wanted to pass it on. Just learn how the pieces move, then play for fun. You can improve your game with more experience, but it’s so valuable to know the basics. ♟

@Harshit Kapoor I would say comfortable. Generally speaking, we don't have much starvation and mass poverty. Most full-time workers do an average of 36-60 hours a week, usually over 5 days and have four weeks paid holiday a year. We are very lucky and everyone has access to free healthcare, although some people choose to pay for private healthcare. All children have access to free schooling between 5-16 years, again some people choose to pay for private education. Like everywhere else we are currently fighting Covid, and have been on lockdown on and off since March, set by the government. Most people have the opportunity to find a job, get a house and start a family. There is hardship at the moment as some people can't work due to the lockdown, but I have definately seen far worse lives during my travels.

I live in Kansas and a couple hours from me there’s an old salt mine/museum you can tour. It’s like this one, totally lacks moisture so it’s great for preserving things. They keep a lot of old Hollywood memorabilia stored down there. So part of it is this awesome old mine, the other part is this weird preservation of old Hollywood. I remembers lot of costumes from movies or costumes musicians toured in on display. But there are also boxes of old scripts and stuff. Super strange juxtaposition.

This is the 3rd time I am watching this video over a span of a year. I dont know why but for some reason this video is one of my favorites. I love dark and creepy places but also the complete silence is what I think draws me to this place. Whatever the reason, I love it! :) AND Nate! ....... Booo! hahah ;)
