The fact that you're willing to roll up your sleeves and grind speaks volumes! Your employees can feel good knowing that you will ALWAYS put them first. Even if that means sacrificing your own time so that your staff can still "have a life", you're more than willing to do it. applaud you sharing and I agree. We should want you and the hobby to fail, but at 39:00 minutes when you compare President to Government and sports cards you expose yourself to more critics. Yes, you are showing if you have $3m you can open a card store and change the retail hobby. But the hobby is full of little LCS and side dealers that won't take so positively and they will HATE on your success. (Personally, I like most LCS are obsolete and can't scale their communities. I think only strong stores like your Fantastic Store in Chantilly, DaveAdam, SteelCity, Burbank etc are the future LCS empires of the hobby.) I'd also say the hobby THRIVES on failures. The best deals in the hobby are the LCS going under selling at a discount or the guy at the show that sells it all at 50% because they need cash or just done with it. This is the way of the hobby. We eat our own!

Better start booking bday parties 🎉 if you want to be Chuck E. Cheese 🧀 of the hobby when those rooms are not creating revenue. I don’t see or hear what your loss leader is? The sq footage of your store is an issue according to % of revenue per sq ft each month. I foresee a lot learning curves for you it’s sometimes best to consult outside consultants who know what sq ft is $ in your day to day operations. Card shops can be easily be compared to a pawn shop people come in to hustle and your on the other end trying to be the master hustler of margins. I hope you take this as constructive criticism but in order to keep that machine size store running you need multiple buyers per region to keep you healthy in inventory to actually turn. As someone who buys collections the last 25,years I can only cover my 4 regional states again that takes time so when you say your looking for 1 buyer I think you need that scaled by 3-4 to cover all regions all weekends shows and appointments via collection buys. But heyyyy what do I know I’m a liquidator by trade 40 years in the hobby as a hobbyist who works for banks,creditors,public administrators & bankruptcy courts of failed retail outlets and they all failed within the first two months of not properly scaling inventory can’t sell vacant space unless your a subleased based company..hope you take a few things said and make them work for you and of course as you said for the best of the hobby.

Pretty sure he bought the building so other than taxes and utilities only real costs are labor. When you own it's easy to stay afloat even during market turndowns. If not mistaken even taxes are very reasonable in Atlanta. Not like New York or Chicago. He will do fine even if he only did local.

@@RobertLee-wi5kcutilities for 14000 square foot building isnt cheap. Once you throw in employee wages(and possibly benefits), it doesnt seem tenable for a card shop to work in that scenario. And as many comments have pointed out, hes likely lying about the number of sales. It's almost an impossibility to move that much in a week span. Especially when all the footage you see in the shop makes the place look like a ghost town.
@RobertLee-wi5kc9 ай бұрын
@@johnwayne9828 Well saying you sold 5000 cards says nothing of your profits. Selling 1500 boxes also says nothing profit wise. I would suspect that by the prices I saw on the boxes that he was making a higher markup. Guess if you are right he will close in a year. If am right he will profit and stay open. I would bet on me and Jeff. Hard to imagine with a 30-40 percent mark up on cards (he buys at 70 and sells at 100) that 5000 cards is pretty good unless they are all coming from the dollar bin:) 1500 boxes probably making 20 per cent thats at least 15K.
