Sidney Lohmar Could not agree with you more. They wanted to milk this, because for the show this is what they have been after for a while, to be more inclusive. I would feel duped if I were Derek. Regardless of whether someone likes Derek or not, it’s a double standard that they applaud Demi for coming on the show with a girlfriend back home, only because they happen to be a same-sex couple, and they frown upon it with anyone else. That’s the thing with equality, I am all for everyone being treated equally, and I understand that the LGBTQ community wants the same rights and I think they should have the same rights, but that’s not what happened here.

Yeah Demi and Kristian are great and all, but not to be too picky, but it totally breaks the immersion within the show. This is reality TV, so I understand it helps ratings, but honestly it would make more sense if they just went home. Obviously not going to a homophobic place, but Kristian didn’t belong there. I don’t understand how there are different standards for different contestants. The show has never showed a gay or bi person on the show. For that reason, it seems that since the show tries to be more inclusive, they are giving Demi a much bigger break than they have other contestants in recent seasons. But she still came on the show with a girlfriend at home and Derek is now hurting because of that. However, it was applauded by Chris and everyone on the show, and she was given so much support for being brave. And they even flew that person into Paradise for her. How about their other contestant, Derek? I just think there are a lot of double standards.

I’m really happy for Demi. You could tell it was just what she needed just by her reaction to seeing Kristian. But they had a relationship before and they’re already telling each other they love each other. They don’t have to be on the show anymore to “pursue” a relationship. The show is about meeting new people and building new relationships (aside from Blake and everyone who made eye contact with him at Stagecoach) and theirs was already pretty deep. They’re basically on a free vacation and Derek has to sit there and watch them flaunt their love. Huge blow to him. Great Bachelor push, but still shitty. Hopefully Derek is able to continue and find someone who isn’t already interested in someone else back at home. And hopefully he gets a date card on top of that. I wasn’t a big fan of the fact that Demi & Kristian got one designated to them. That’s not how it works!!! I don’t think they needed one. Demi should’ve said “I have what I need, I’m happy, I’m done- have fun everyone” and walked out. But obviously it’s all produced led and she probably got big bucks to stay. If Derek walks away single, he’s got my vote on Bachelor (sorry Mike, your throne has been taken)! Also, Kristian’s interviews were so awkward to me 😂 Everyone is usually so loud and proud but she was so quiet and, maybe even dull. But she’s a perfect balance for Demi, who is a full force wild child! They suit each other well.

Neesa Savarese I actually think he would be a good bachelor for a lot of reasons. I listen to some different bachelor podcasts and many of Derek’s friends have spoken out about how he would make a good bachelor(particularly Wells). I also was never 100% with Mike or Peter and since Tyler is pretty much out of the running, I think Derek would make a good bachelor. No need to assume that anyone’s opinion is based on “a short attention span”.

Alex B I thought that with Hannah Brown as well. Every other word was “like”. Many of the men on her season did the same. Since I am on the topic of Hannah B, I am kind of surprised her pageant coach didn’t work on that with her, since a part of the competition, at the national level especially, seems to be on how well you answer news related questions. She put a “K” behind all her “ing” words too, for example, she would say “thinkingk” and “doingk”. I am just surprised that wasn’t adressed by her pageant coach.

Gargee Basak Yes, I am with you on that, but I would think, specifically if you are in pageants at the National level, where you are being judged on looks and the ability to speak well, that the coaches would try to work on getting you to stop that habit. The same with newscasters and hosts in the entertainment world. I don’t know anything about the behind the scenes coaching of pageants, but I was just thinking that that may be something they would want you to work on, if you are going to compete for the title of Miss America. 🤷🏼‍♀️

not taking sides here, but just pointing out something. Why is Demi not receiving any backlash from having a relationship before entering paradise, and from what I've seen so far (i may have missed something), looks like she hasn't officially "ended" the relationship before going on paradise, citing that she only came on paradise to figure out her feelings? Yet, when men have a relationship before entering the show and not officially ending it, they get labeled as not coming for the right reasons and blah blah. So why is this okay in Demi's case? Would it be different if the person back home was a guy instead?

Brian Lin For me, it’s the way it’s handled. When the guys did this on Hannah’s season it was manipulative and deceitful. The way the men approached it and spoke to Hannah about it was shady. Demi has been pretty upfront about it considering and the conversations between Demi, Derek, and Kristian have been mature and honest. It’s never going to be perfect, but the intention and maturity in how it’s approached is important.

Nadalee Natasha because when she sat down with Kristian, she said I gave myself to him emotionally and "PHYSICALLY". It wasn't subtle. Then Kristian said she cried when Demi went to talk to Derrick once that set in. Then right before they started their date that's why she said she was also "mad" at Demi. And based she would never forgive her if that happened again. There's ZERO doubt that she slept with him.

I don’t get why people are mad that Demi went a show whose whole franchise has the premise of dating multiple people, while she was dating multiple people. It’s not like she went on the bachelor and was supposed to be focused on one person with the intent to get engaged AND had a girlfriend....that would be bad. Demi said she needed the “clarity” which I totally understand. She was clear that she was not dating Kristian exclusively and that Kristian knew she was going to paradise. People date around “in the real world” all the time. This is not different. It would have been better if she was honest with Derek from the beginning. HOWEVER, it’s a completely different situation when someone is scared as hell about coming out. Faulting Demi for being apprehensive regarding how her news would be received is disgusting. Honestly, put yourself in her shoes. That is scary as hell, even in this day and age. She’s a damn queen and I respect the hell out of her for her bravery. By the way, this is NOT the first time a non bachelor nation cast member has been brought to paradise. ❤️❤️❤️DEMI❤️❤️❤️ Y’all need to realize it’s a little different for someone who is questioning their sexuality when people who are “other” are not fully accepted in our society. Im soooo proud of Demi, for embracing her true self and doing what will make her the happiest. I am sad/proud though of Derek.
