Do you know that old castle ruins were build as a ruin and they are not older then the main castle. There was some fashion in that time that every castle had to have some ruins near and when the wasn't any they needed to be build.

@dabbleandtravel2 жыл бұрын

@henningbartels62452 жыл бұрын
Drek is right: Malbork or Marienburg is more a castle in a true sense. The Burg (in Marien-Burg) = castle is simular to a fortress and has above all a military and strategic purpose. The German name for the buildings shown in the video is Schloss Fürstenstein. A Schloss = palace or chateau has a residential and representative character. It might be that Książ had a fortified military or strategic character in the 14th century. But what you see there now - looking at the architecture style - is a remodelling into a palace-like residence done in the 16th and 17th century.

You have been to the most mysterious region in Poland and perhaps in Europe. Nearby, the Germans built a complex of underground structures with no explanatory purposes to this day, they built it until the last moments before the takeover by the Russian front. They allegedly built anti-gravity tension. The surrounding mountains have hollow tunnels that the Germans hid something and blew it up before retreating. In some tunnels 6 trucks were driven in and the tunnels were blown up, the locals know the entrances, but no one should let them because they are mined with porcelain mines undetectable. These tunnels go on for miles.

Is it really true that the Hochberg family got the castle back once the nazis left, as Matt mentioned it? The whole area was cut off from Germany, given to a westward shifted Poland and the population expelled. There would be no exception especially for an aristocratic family in a communist Poland then. I would guess, the palace was seized by the Polish state after the war.
@dabbleandtravel2 жыл бұрын
I think that's what we heard!
@henningbartels62452 жыл бұрын
@@dabbleandtravel this would be very unusally. Sometimes it happend after 1990 that some wealthy families received properties back when they were not dispossessed by the communist but already by the nazis before.
