Here in Philly we still have a few of our 2005 D40LFs left. Although the oldest buses in SEPTAs fleet, many bus operators and transit fans agree that they're the best buses currently in service. Wayyy better than the new xcelciors we are getting.

My local transit agency, TTC (toronto) still has buses as old as 2006! They are being retired currently and replaced by NovaBus LFS and New Flyer XDE40 Buses. Great Video!

Most of IndyGo got rid of their Gillig Advantage LF 40s so all we only have Gillig BRT 40 and new Gillig BRTPlus Hybrids now.

I never drove an Orion bus at all. My bus fleet are 30 foot Eldorado National EZ-Rider II MAX and we just order some 30 foot 2022 Eldorado National Axess BRT in our bus fleet.

Yall have xcelsiors to though, I'm from NYC, never been to Chicago, I've only seen videos of them. Yall should be glad you have Eldorado buses, Here, NYC transit never tested or bought any Eldorado buses, only time you see them here, is university and airport service!

Here in Montgomery County,MD Ride On still operates Gillig Advantage diesels/hybrids from 2008 and 2009. The 2008 gilligs originally retired last September but were brought back due to low ridership on the flash routes and a bus shortage.

in the MTA we got 2008-2010 Orion 7 NG and 2006-2007 Orion 7 OGs and yes those orions are all hybrids

My garage got most of the 8500 Series Novas for CTA. Forest Glen Garage got the 8350 and some 8400 Series and 103rd Garage have some 8400 & 8500 Series Novas out running, some people don't like them because of the back door situation on them.

We mostly have 2005 model Mercedes Citaros in Istanbul. I was surprised to see that this design was from 2008, it looks more like it's from the 90's.

Yes those OGs still look good! I'm still wondering if they'll keep the OGs running when the new buses start revenue service, or if they'll scrap those OGs. Either way, they did have some pretty fun adventures!! 😄

Today i drove the 2022 Nova LFS bus route today. Come check out some of our bus fleet up here in Chicago, you would love the transmission on our New Flyers and Novas when they go on the Lake Shore Drive. Route 6 and J14 would hit the expressway.

Very clever frontal styling. I like how American buses keep the industrial looking fittings in the driver's cab unlike the Euros who ate determined to make them like an executive car. I find that boring. Is this ZF, Voith or Allison gearbox?

Interesting because lots of people from Europe tell me how outdated our buses look..which I guess is true but it seems that the manufacturers just continue using what works. It’s Voith!

I grew up catching this bus from 1980 with a radically modern for the time square body styling but the driver's area was a fascinating juxtaposition of 1950s, 1960s and 70s. The instrument panel was this wide concave affair with oddly placed guages and a speedometer with a row of different colour round warning lights mounted on it, and a huge old school steering wheel. The sleek modern exterior with old school driver's cockpit and 1960s mechanicals always fascinated me. It had a British sourced semi automatic gearbox -you change gears without a clutch.
