Greetings from Pennsylvania, USA. Very sad that a family left behind what was once such a beautiful home. PS. Please be careful in such settings. There are often particles from rodent and bat droppings circulating in the air of such abandoned properties. Similar to going cave exploring. Therefore, where masks to protect yourself. A friend of mine 's father went cave exploring once. Inhaled, unknowingly, bat dropping particle. A few weeks after coming home, he developed sever respiratory problems and was hospitalized. Every test given to him came back negative. He was on a ventilator and this family was told to prepare for his imminent death. Doctors could not determine what was causing his lungs to stop functioning until one doctor decided to test for bat droppings. That test came back positive, and treatment was given to this man which saved his life. So just be careful exploring such place.

Thorns on a rose bush will get you every time. Careful where you step! So much stuff left behind AGAIN. Back when the furniture was in good shape it could have been recycled to other families in need of interior furnishings. Homemade cork in the wine bottle. Such a nice time capsule. Love the wallpaper. If there is a calendar, you should be able to see how long the place has been abandoned.

2005. Amazing how much decay there is compared to some of the other places you have investigated. Lots of Tupperware containers on the kitchen counter. They are collectors items, now that Tupperware shut down. Another Singer sewing machine left alone. I can just imagine all the clothes that it mended over the years. My grandmother had one of the old pedal machines. My parents kept in up until 2001. (keepsake only) My Mom used it occasionally, but also had one of the new machines at the time. I love the cabinets for holding all the clothes/towels and bedsheets. They look like they are lined with cedar, so none of the items in the cabinets have been damaged by mice. This place must have been a happy place in its day. The organ still sounds nice. The reeds still work!

It is really moving, to be able to piece together the history of the couple who lived there. They probably had very rare visits of their grandchildren, or never had any, from the lack of a bedroom dedicated to kids. They were pious and very fond of travelling, as seen with the souvenirs. They saw Miami, Monte Carlo, Lourdes, Fatima... The current owner of this house probably doesn't know that they possess this cottage through inheritance. It'd coincide with my theory of the last residents having no close relative left, so it now probably belongs to a distant second cousin, perhaps. It's a shame, because I am sure they could auction the pieces of furniture and trinkets inside to make extra money. It is still better than letting them degrade with moisture and reliefs of carpentry falling on top of it. I know i'd be very interested in acquiring this medallion depicting a Marial appearance to offer as a gift, on the bedside table. Also this Normandy clock is a beauty, I hope it is going to be salvaged...
@crystalclear56849 ай бұрын
It's so typical of estates in France that fall into the inheritance 'black hole'...no living relatives, or the government red tape and taxes. They would leave it to rot like this, rather than salvage the treasures inside, or promote the property. It is a travesty! 🙄
