I saw several KZbin videos on preventing bedbugs and dealing with them if you have them. Diatomaceous earth has its uses, especially if it’s put into the right places where it won’t get into the airspace very much. Putting the right bedding on and food grade diatomaceous earth, under and inside mattresses works well. There are essential oils and combinations that repel them. Putting the feet of the beds into bowls and putting those bowls in another bowl with water, keeps bugs from getting up onto the bed. That’s what leaps to mind right at the moment. That video about the scientist who is considered the foremost expert on bedbugs was fascinating. I highly recommend watching it because there’s a lot of practical advice there. A bit of prevention now stops them early. 🎉

Put the green tomatoes in a plastic bag together with an apple and they will get red and ripe because of the ethylen that the apple releases when ripening.

They will just ripen if you leave them in a dark space. May take a little longer, but it spreads the last of the fresh harvest into the early winter which can be nice.

My Dad planted Chestnut trees like yours many years ago and then he sold the chestnuts to the Chinese Restraunt’s in the area. Made lots of money and we enjoyed them at Christmas when we roasted them and in Turkey stuffing!

Zinnia are really rewarding to grow. A single flower can last months on the bush! About 2 weeks in a vase, though I still love the faded color and curly stem so I keep them longer

No one takes mattresses for obvious hygiene reasons. As for the sofa, if it doesn’t have the correct fire retardant labels for the foam/stuffing then they can’t take them either. Really old ones which have horsehair stuffing can be sold I think but they expect you to re stuff them with fire retardant foam.

And Diatomaceous Earth inside the fabric. Washable fabric is also very handy. Unzip it off the cushions, put it in the washing machine, take it out, dry it, put it back on the cushions. Cleans and kills bugs. Easy Peazy.

Wow, not even a glimpse of Cloe.❤ Hopefully she's not suffering from jet lag or shyness. LOL! Amaury's jab a Stephanie was enough comedy for an entire episode. Poor Stephanie, she takes a licking and keeps on ticking. That's why we love her.❤👸❤ The news of Steve and Tantina selling their home in England and moving to France came as a surprise. I hope that translates to more time on Château Diaries. Will Isabelle and Percy do the same? A home in South Africa, England and an en suite in France must be a lot to maintain at their age. I don't envy them. That poor old sofa does need a whole new look. It has good bones though. I'm sentimental too, so I understand the hesitation to chuck it in the bin. The caning looks to be in perfect condition. Used mattresses always seem dodgy to me.🛏️ I can see why they turned them down, especially when the recent bedbug outbreak in Paris has gotten worldwide attention. I did want to see Amaury's finished storage unit. He was in a bit of a mood today. If he's like me, I get "hangry" when I haven't eaten. I'm definitely not a Care Bear at those times.❤ I really love the clarity of the new camera. It really is fantastic. I'm mystified by Marie's dislike of pink flowers.🌸 They're so cheerful. Aumary's demeanor has an undercurrent for quite some time now, he seems at times angry and fed up. Perhaps having to start from scratch at rebuilding his personal workshop again, having had to move it due to the boilers for the heating system. I think he had worked very hard on it, then had to do it again, with much more adjustments to make in the new space.

The final commencement of the restoration when the B&B season finally ends, should be a game changer. He'll be too busy to be bogged down with negativity. Great episode. Virginia Creeper looks beautiful but it can do serious damage to stone buildings. I had a pickle getting rid of it in our yard. I clipped this from Wikipedia: The plant should be trimmed regularly to keep it from growing into areas where it is not wanted. If allowed to penetrate into the wall of a frame house, it will grow upward within the wall until it finds a place to emerge. The roots can penetrate a rock foundation and grow into the basement of an old house, extending long distances in search of moisture, and growing into floor cracks or drains.
