Hey axe. Your true catch chance is actually the number that shows when you AIM at them. The 7% chance for jormentide is actually the first “check”. The chance you see when you aim is the percentage of BOTH “checks” (first and second shake). Example: if you aim and it says 10% capture chance the first “check/shake” will be a 20% (1/5) and the second “check/shake” will be 50% (1/2) which in TOTAL is 10% (1/2•1/5). So when you aim the sphere THATS your true capture chance.

Also, as every ball is independent from the previous one, there is no way to predict how many balls you'll need. The capture chance doesn't go up with throwing more balls. Every ball you throw is just a new bit of hope for success.

From my experience it seems to be working properly, was able to catch a lvl 50 Lucky Beakon, where before it almost seemed impossible to catch any lvl 50 Lucky pals

The clear spots on the map are when you died and respawned at that location. Those are the respawn spots (probably). Also, for beam attacks (the hydro laser, or fire breath) are best dodged by simply running.. don't roll. :D Thanks for the content!

16:15 Those random spots on the map are areas you can respawn at, they appear as white arrows when respawning. Dunno if all of them are but when I died playing today I noticed them.

I'm sure people have told you what else is on that island, so I'll spare you a repeat. HOWEVER, instead I shall impart some sphere wisdom on thee (til they fix the effigacy crude). What I have learned: if you are struggling to catch a pal in a sphere that starts around 10% and it keeps getting out, GO DOWN A SPHERE LEVEL. I know, sounds crazy, but it has worked for me at least 50% of the time.

"He's just so big and clealry looks like a boss!" Astegon is a boss, lmao. He's in the volcano biome at co-ords -613, -430. Also, if you want an assault rifle, farm the Blazamut boss in the volcano at -440, -559, he drops the legendary blueprint. The capture rate bug was an internal processing error that basically made it so the strength increase from the effigies just wasn't applying. It wasn't lowering the capture rate or anything like that. And that's not how probability works. Probability is the likelyhood that something can happen, not the likelyhood that something will hapen. So, a 7% chance to succeed is a 93% chance to fail. Meaning, in theory, you'd have to throw roughly 14.3 balls to capture something at 7%. But that's only the likelyhood of possible success, not definite success. You could throw 143 balls and still not get it. That's not a bug, that's just probability.

Yeah, but the law of averages says that the more balls you throw the closer to the actual number you will get. There will be far more 1st throw catches than 143 ones.

@@erikjohnson3859 I also have to agree that something seems a little...off...with the catch calculations - I'm finding it far more common to need to throw a statistical excess of spheres than needing less than I expected. With high level bosses in particular, I'm seeing 20-30% capture rates before throwing and consistently needing 8-10+ spheres. But, to be fair, I've always had bad luck.

pro tip, most pals sleep at night time. the twin legendaries may not be as hard as you think ;) I recommend getting the legendaries based on their elements, starting with whichever it is that isn't weak to another legend. If I'm remembering right, there's a nice order to do them in! Been awesome watching you play, Axe.

Bruh same, I thing "Faleris" spawns are common around sunset because i like saw two chilling while I was there, theirs a saying "You can never find what your looking for, but when you stop looking for it, It always seems to shows up when you don't need it to"😅

Axe, simple rule for bosses and damage scaling - If your Pal is the same level as the boss or higher, you can usually rely on it to do the majority of the work. If it's lower level, expect to do it yourself. Also, regarding boss captures there's a stun baton you can make that will electrify them with the intent of making them easier to catch - DO NOT USE IT. It increases your catch rate by 0-1%, takes multiple (and too many) hits to proc the status effect, only lasts long enough to throw 1 sphere and often gets you killed as you try to stay in melee range of a boss hitting it with a stick. I get the intent of the item, but it needs a balance rework because right now it's underpowered to the point that trying to use it on tough pals is a hindrance.

You can find a much better pal than "Astegon" in that sanctuary, I think you might like it because it's a dark type, can be ridden and faster... probably the 4th faster flying pal, it only spawns at night do, it's named "Shadowbeak" the hunter of the night.

Great vid Mr. Axe. Unfortunately, the effigy collection doesn’t really seem to help the capture rate in my experience. I’ve been at max level for a time and I feel like the capture rate somehow got worse for me. This is with the upgraded spheres mind you. I’m definitely disappointed, but maybe in the future it will get a buff. Here’s hoping.
