A Chiangmai local here. Glad you guys are having fun. Just want to add some info about the water in the moat as people might be wondering. The city has dredged and dried up the whole circle of the moat a few days before Songkran, and refilled with fresh water. So the water is fresh (not something that had been there for the whole year). However, moat is moat. There’s mud at the bottom, plus people jumping in to fetch water, etc. As you mentioned , it’s better to protect your eyes and ears, and not let the water go into your mouth. Hope you guys enjoy the rest of Songkran :)

It is considered to create merit for oneself and dedicate merit to those who have passed away. ** Pouring water to wish each other a happy new year The water that is poured is usually perfumed with ordinary water and sprinkled with jasmine flowers. ** Buddha bathing involves pouring water on Buddha images at home and at temples, and in some places, monks are also bathed. ** Requiem ashes, bones of dead elderly relatives Often formed into a pagoda Then invited the monk to requiem. ** Watering adults. It means going to give blessings to respected elders and teachers. There are also many ceremonies according to the beautiful traditions of Thailand that cannot be found in other peoples. 🌏
