We Swapped a 25HP Racing Engine on a Derelict Yard Kart

We install a big valve 225cc Tillotson racing engine on a Manco Dingo yard kart! This Manco Dingo IX is the bigger of the two Dingos made, and this one has a Honda GX240 installed. The Dingo is in poor condition- the engine plate is cut up, the GX240 doesn't fit properly on the frame, the frame is bent meaning the kart doesn't turn properly, it doesn't have brakes, and one of the font wheels has no wheel bearings! So, installing a racing Tillotson 225cc engine required a lot of modification to the chassis.

@@JO.Racing because they remove the torque converter aka CVT so it's geared wrong and only have 1 gear. A modify CVT or a gearbox would make it way faster

For whatever it's worth, if the lettering on the back of the seat are Roman numerals, that would equate to '9'. Similar to the super bowl number of what game is being played that year. Example: I=1, V=5, X=10, L=50, C=100, D=500, M=1,000. So 'IX' would equal 9.

I have an idea for a build. How about a go kart modded with a Bafang 50.4.v mid drive kit. These motors snap chains because of the amount of torque they have. Max torque 160 ft/lbs. 50+ miles depending on use. They weigh nothing compared to a gas engine. Plus since it's a cart you could put 2,3 or 4 batteries on it for longer range. Also you have the cnc plasma cutter so why haven't you used it to make a High Performance can muffler for the snowmobile powered kart? Smaller, lighter, sound better, and better engine performance. It's a win/win. Looks better too.

My Dingo I had when was like 12-13 was that size but came with big knobby tires and a Briggs and Stratton 8hp. I drove the crap out of that thing and had a blast every day! No suspension cause my roll cage to crack so me not wanting to stop or being a welder at 12, I just tore it off. Super sketchy obviously but what wasn't then?. Mine stock would light hose knobby's up in gravel and even break lose and do doughnuts on pavement. Man I miss it. It ended up seizing I thing bc it got even more tougher to start and finally stopped being able to pull start. I sold it but got a couple hundy still and put it toward a great running good shape older 70' Honda mini trail/street bike. It wasn't the z50 bc the tank was actually proportionate like a big bike to the seat and looked like a smaller full size. It had a 3 speed. Had 3 gears all down. instead of normally 1 down rest up, you shifted up to down shift. Weird. It had been repainted like a Chevy orange and had a blue pool liner for the seat cover lol. It ran very strong and lasted for several years. I bought it from my uncle that horse traded cars and trucks and whatever else and paid like $300 for it. After that he sold me a 90's Yamaha Razz scooter that I rode hard too and ended up later after a couple years of daily riding everywhere in the country and yards not starting one day. I think it was shot anyway. But anyhoo, glad I got this video yall. Brought back some of my favorite memories as a kid. Ive never seen anymore or anybody else on here with a Dingo. Oh yea I forgot about the Honda Odysee buggy kart too. It was like bigger and more hp than the Dingo. Have y'all ever seen one of those? Back in 80's prob I believe. Later guys.

Am I the only one that knows those CVT plates can be ran in different positions? Or is everyone having a dumb moment like these two are on this video??? No I am not calling anyone dumb... Hell I have dumb moments... Im just saying run the CVT plate in a different position other than straight back... On another note the original CVT driven pulley could have just been flipped over to line up (if it isn't permanently attached to the jack shaft) just saying... Otherwise another great video!

dingo really could do with some doorbars. for safety. something between you and whatever you hit when you roll it because you're crazy like me and attached full suspension from an old quad and fabbed up a swaybar from some bent tubing with the ends pinched, welded, and reinforced to handle the bolt trying to turn a circle into an oval, and it does work well as a makeshift swaybar. note to self, next time shave the seam, and nest a pipe inside and weld the ends together first before bending and doing the swaybar linkage. it needs a stiffer bar, and a twin tube is tougher than just stright up thicker walls, funnily enough

There’s 3 things wrong that u did. That was a symetrical driven and an a symetrical driver. Even if the driven wasn’t the wrong thing you could’ve reversed it to where the springs would face away from the motor, and finally u didn’t have to flip the axle, you could’ve just taken one of the bearings off of the frame, and then slide the sprocket on the axle to line it up. But if you did that and was able to keep the stock plate and torque converter, the jackshaft sprocket would’ve been on the wrong side but u could swap that by taking the nut off of that side. I love y’all’s videos, and I like y’all’s creative rigging but that was really a noob move, even after all those years I figured y’all would’ve worked with what y’all had instead of replacing everything, but that’s just me because I don’t like to replace something that isn’t broken. It also saves time and gets you riding sooner
