Brad & Kyle, that was fun to watch. Keep working at it!!! I turn 66 in less than a week. I switched to 2 handed, no thumb about a year ago (my friends say I am crazy as i have averaged as high as 224 1-handed, mostly in the high 2-teens with ball speed around 17.8 mph only bowling once a week). Its now all about getting my speed up. When i started 2-handed it was around 13 mph. Finally got it over 16 mph (some over 17.5) with a high series of 780 (during practice, so take that with a frain of salt). I still throw a gutter ball or 2 each set (had a 682 with 4 gutter balls in only my 8th league series 2-handed, the gutter-7 in between a 3 and 5 bagger cost me 39 pins - ouch. As my speed increases, I have found I don't have to play outside 4 board, plus Vice's polish that can bring my ball up to 8000 grit (old hammer scandal). Still under 200 average, but i will get there as i have not been making my spares. Brad - rest that ball on your forearm until you release it, it will rev more and not roll out like a few of yours did in this challenge session. Kyle, i think you would crush it as a 2-hander. Shoot right side spares 1-handed!!! Looking forward to seeing your first 200 game!!!

I switched to 2h this year after 2 years of 1h. I'm already at my old avg and shot a 226 in league yesterday. Hardest part is keeping ball speed up so I dont leave splits on the fresh. Doesn't help we switched oil and now transition is way faster.

You guys are both pros with excellent forms and a very competitive game at the pro level. I could say the same about Darren Tang. He seems to be on the verge of converting to 2-handed bowling full time. He has already entered a regional bowling 2 handed. I have watched him bowl. As well as he bowls 1-handed, it really looks like he has an easier time striking as a 2-handed. The higher rev rate, the steeper entry angle you can get at the pocket, all translates to more carries. I have 2 bowlers in my bowling league who have bowled less than a year, and they started as your typical "no idea what we're doing" 130's bowlers. After one year, they are both now averaging 180-190. They still throw a lot of clueless balls, because they are still learning the basics of the oil pattern and other parts of the game. But with that huge rotation, I have watched them both throw 5 or 6 baggers fairly routinely. (remember this is on a semi-blocked house pattern) I really think that already elite bowlers like you guys, Brad and Kyle, can transition to a 2-handed style and get better. You are not old. You can adapt and adjust your game. Having a higher rev rate really has very little downside.
@KennyGrinolsАй бұрын
Brads ball reaction is a friendly reminder of why layouts matter and *can* be incredibly important. Not a few degrees here, or a half inch there, but layouts based on the players axis tilt and rotation, and bleeding or retaining them at the proper rate, for the ball to go through all 3 motions, at the right point in time on the lane.

I've been a two hander for like 25 years, my main ball hybrid reactive is way to aggressive so I have you use the whole lane pretty much right off the bat. I just switched to a lighter pearl instead, stoked to not have to rip that thing down there as hard as I possibly can every throw, that gets tiring.

Brad, small thing I noticed. When you're releasing the ball with your hand behind the ball instead of under it. I think you just need to stay under the ball a little longer and your rev rate will go up. Also, your axis rotation is very straight.

@brianpatrick678Ай бұрын
So, one thing to keep in mind is that you are bowling with balls that are laid out for your 1 handed PAP. Drill up a ball specifically for your two hand PAP. Two hand drilling layouts are much weaker to prevent over hook and give you more control.
@enigma8464Ай бұрын
Once you get your two handed game decently well, try and do my style- one handed no thumb. kind of a hybrid between 1 and 2 handed
@womp47Ай бұрын
2 handed is objectively better than just thumbless
@daspeakeasiesАй бұрын
Kyle: Get further back on the approach and generate ball speed with your feet. Brad: Keep your hand under the ball longer for more revs and let it roll off instead of trying to push it. If this is a fresh house shot you’re both playing way too far left especially with the Phase 2. Just drill a Storm Mix for a spare ball and use it no matter what, not doing yourselves any favors trying to throw backup balls and hooking and spares.
@jl4560Ай бұрын
I love it,Kyle leaves a hard 8 pin. Ball didn't do its job, then left a solid 9 pin 😅.
@zalvian22Ай бұрын
Take your bowling hand and hold it so your arm and palm are straight up. rotate your wrist so your pinky moves inwards, and then fold your wrist towards you. In your start position, have a little under half the weight of your ball on your forearm. Through your swing let gravity do the brunt of the work, try to have the ball feel weightless on the peak of the back swing, and keep your torso rotated more on your backswing. You should be looking over your non-dominant shoulder fully at the peak of your swing. Your left hand is your thumb, if you turn your torso back straight too quickly, you pull your "thumb" to a different spot and lose revs and accuracy on your release. Also as opposed to one handed bowling, follow through out towards 1 o'clock with your throw arm and throw your off hand off to the left as straight as you can to make sure you aren't over-rotating past neutral on the release as well. Good luck bowlers :)

I never tried the WindMill comming around the ball on the right like a noemal right handed bowler but full WindMill so I did it for a full marothon video & had an under 140 avg it was like 138 avg. I thought I would do better then the Back up with Windmill but the problem I had is I could NOT come around the ball from the right side because a Windmill is FULL circle & you need to come out of the circle to come around the ball on the right side of the ball so the back up ball is way easier to stay in the circle with. I have my balls drilled for back up ball by Brandon Gibson that's dr hooks kid cuz Dr died back in 2017. Brandon Gibson bowled in regional's tour!

Question for you all,. Is there more pressure on your arm/elbow bowling two handed vs one handed? I am learning to bowl left handed because of damage to my right elbow with ligaments and tendons. I ask my question because my left handed bowling sucks. I wonder if I can bowl two handed right and drop ball weight down to 14lb's. With hopes of reducing the stress on that elbow.

I wanna see how a mystery shot style bowling tourney would play like. The idea is the bowlers don't know what style they have to use per frame. The style would be announced at the beginning of every frame and will challenge the bowlers by not only taking them outside of the comfort zone but they don't get to completely control the tempo of the game. Probably take too long and be super chaotic but definitely worth a spectate.

Reason left hand feels weird when interlocked is because you guys are too squared to the foul line, try opening up the hips a little by rotating the right foot/leg behind the left - more linear to each other - it'll help you put less angle to the left wrist

Kyle actually throws the 2 hander really well. He has a very natural delivery and the ball rolls end over end. He should go to that. Brad....not so much. He crooks his elbow out and as a result the ball spins sideways.
