We are hitting up Bedford Autodrome for South East Mk2 Golfs first group track day. Some people in the group are seasoned track goers, others are track day amateurs, but we all set to have a great day at one of the longest circuits in the UK.

Thank you! Kudos to you producing an exhaust that can bring the noise down of the 3.2 VR6 enough for it to pass the strict Bedford noise limits, whilst not stifling the performance.

What a fantastic day that was! Thank you for letting me bring the "VW Civic" along, I don't think Blitz would have survived, or have been as much fun! Some important points: - We learned that Jo is a faster driver than Ali - Ali and Martin must have jynxed Gumperts engine - The Civic would have been a bit quicker but for a slower exit behind the Super7, and was suffering a clutch issue making downshifts difficult (yes, yes, racer excuses 😅) - The GoPro mounts needs improving as the brakes can force the front to change angle, as can cornering on the rear camera. Hoping you let me bring it along to the next one as I feel there may be a score to settle with the ABF

That is no problem at all, it was great to compare the Civic against the Mk2s. It's a great machine! Point 1 - Jo probably is faster than me. She's mad! But I think she broke the car as it wasn't making that noise before hand. 👀 Point 2 - yes I should have known better than to sing the praises of the engine! Point 3 - those are some pro race driver level excuses right there! But... on a clear run I reckon it'd be neck and neck between the VW Civic and ABF. Point 4 - get yourself a Quadlock GoPro mount. They're amazing! Definitely bring it again and settle that score with Ben and the ABF...

@golfmk2 aha, I jest, there are no scores to settle, it's all about enjoying the cars and the time on track. Ben is a very capable driver (in a very well built mk2) which is evident in his relaxed and chatty manner while still getting round rather quickly! Hopefully next time I get a chance to ride shotgun.

Definitely. Safety is my biggest concern. While it's nice to be quick, I'm not anywhere near the standard of some drivers, so it's just good to know the best techniques to get the most out of my own ability and being safe in the process. Even the experienced track day goers benefit from the tutoring too. I recommend it to anyone.

@@golfmk2 Well done on sorting the clonk as well. I have had my rear axle powdercoated and the brackets and am checking the torque on the bolts every week - play havoc on my mind at the moment.

Thanks. It definitely sorted the vague handling and much of the issues, but I think Martin the instructor was correct, another clonk appears to be coming from the rear, so I think that's likely a bush, which will be a royal pain to change, I expect!

@@golfmk2 I went for powerflex. I replaced with oem rubber on my previous corrado and honestly the ride quality is no different with powerflex. I do have adjustable dampers thought. The handling is even better with powerflex - the rear follows the front and it all feels more connected together. Suprised me as I was previously a stickler for OEM based on what I read online...
