I believe I saw RM 1357 in 2014 at the Routemaster 60 event. This looks to be very much in it's 60's guise. Originally it had a 0600 Leyland engine when new in '62. Last saw service with LT in '88. I remember my mum sending me to the shop by bus route 180/180A, gave me the 5p fare. It was such a thrill to be all by myself on Routemasters, RT's were still running then. They have such a strong character. Great little film.

I'm one of the other conductors on Heritage Service A and I love my job as Routemasters have been a big part of my life since I was 6 years old. I normally work the route on Thursdays and Fridays so by all means come up and say hello. You can't miss me as I have my uniform with various bus badges applied on it, as well as wearing a 1980s London Buses uniform cap.

We are looking forward to taking a trip on the new extended route from Tower Hill and doing a followup video about the service

I remember them in 1962 at Brentwood in Essex on the Green Line/London Transport 721 service, they were RMC Coaches, much better than those standard buses, they replaced the green RT’s on the 721, in 1965 RCL’s arrived in stream, I shall always recall seeing Country Area London Transport RML’s at Brentwood in 1967 on the 339’s that replaced the green RT’s when the service was extended from Brentwood station to Warley Fords. In Brentwood we also had Central Area RT’s on the 247 and 287, along with the Eastern National Bristol ECW Lodekkas from the Brentwood North Road garage, as well as the London Wood Green - Southend services, the 69’s were great times in Essex.

They have extended this route and now run from Tower Hill to Piccadilly Circus, it was great yesterday seeing people queueing to get on the bus and experience the ride on an old RM
