I disagree with Nathan a little about the Willys being a set of tires away from being nearly a Mojave. People always seem to discount the cast iron front suspension and steering components as well as the reinforced frame. Those are a big deal if you're doing the things the Mojave was made for - bouncing and jumping at high speeds. And that's the key: what are you planning to do with it? The Willys is maybe the best bang for the buck but it won't do Mojave stuff well.

Rick Péwé! That man really helped to inspire my love of off-roading. Back when I was a 9th grader (2003-04), we had to sell magazine subscriptions (for what, I do not remember) and to bolster my own sales, I subscribed myself to two magazines that really supercharged my love of all things auto: Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road (to which Rick was the Editor in Chief of at the time), and Hot Rod magazine. I would read every issue of both cover to cover. I really loved the builds and when 4WOR would build rigs for the Ultimate Adventure. That magazine is why I know what a locker is, why a NP205 tcase is cool, why a Dana 60 is stronger than a 44, and so much more. Very instrumental in shaping who I am today. I read those magazines for years, and I still have every issue that I received. Thanks guys!

Mpjave is more Jeep than 90% of potential customers will ever need. When you engage the center lock and rear lock, you still have brake locking differentials in front. You can actually buy a Jeep, choose your favorite trim and color right on the lot, and you won't pay full MSRP if you know how to negotiate (i.e. a minimum of $6K reduction on top trims). Ford has always limited the supply of Raptors, so IF you find a Ranger Raptor, you'll take whatever color Ford allocated to the dealer, and you'll pay full MSRP at minimum. Most dealers will add Additional Dealer Markup, so a black Ranger Raptor will cost the same as a your favorite Rubicon X and Mojave X. I must say why Jeep chose to go for 'best in class' rear legroom at the expense of front legroom in the Gladiator is a head scratcher.

@Mekanik_Joe9 ай бұрын
If you test drive, you'll notice the windshield frame is much lower than usual vehicles. At 6'2", 240lbs the Mojave works alright for me. You may find yourself stopping a bit before you usually would at intersections, so you can see the light change. Our 4yr & 2yr old are both in front facing car seats. One siting behind me with drivers seat all the way back. I've owned a '15 Ram 2500 crewcab since new. When we hop back into the Ram it feels cavernous. But this is more of a weekend trip/errand vehicle for us. Edit: Rear facing car seats are probably not possible unless you have only one rear seat passenger.

Ford Ranger Raptor has a Baja running suspension and both rear and front lockers, plus a powerful engine for way less than a Gladiator Mojave. A fully loaded Ranger Raptor is $14k less than a fully loaded Gladiator Mojave. I like convertibles and the ability to take the doors off, but that is a huge price gap to get a vehicle that is less equipped with known quality issues. My Mojave leaked oil straight from the factory and Jeeps paint issues are well known as well.
@petervandoren29849 ай бұрын
I live in Oxfordshire and a neighbour has a Ranger Raptor, so a Gladiator is not out of the question. I do see F150s and Dodge Rams around. They're not common, but I see them reasonably regularly. The Gladiator is ULEZ compliant for London too Nathan. You would have to pay the congestion charge, but not the additional ULEZ charge. So it would cost you about 20 bucks to go into the city. I like the looks of the Gladiator, but couldn't justify it, especially as you're not going to take off the roof and doors in the UK.

I don't know why TFL doesn't mention the stronger frame which is only available on the Mojave. And is not available on the Rubicon. I own a 2021 Mojave. The issue with crawling Mojave’s and sometimes feeling like they need more power is not the engine, but their low range gearing. They have about a 53 to 1 crawl ratio vs about a 77 to 1 for a Rubicon. This means more throttle use and less throttle control in low speed crawling. It also means, however, that they can go faster in low range vs a Rubicon. Each can of course crossover and do what the other one was really more designed to do, but yeah, they are designed to do different things. Buy the one that fits the offroading you most intend to do. Besides, much of the differences can also be added aftermarket- for example a front locker on a Mojave, nicer suspension and cast iron knuckles on a Rubicon etc. (I guess with the exception being the stronger frame on the Mojave). If I were going to lift it and replace suspension though, I don’t think I’d spend for a Mojave, as that is really the biggest part of what you are paying for, so why spend for it and then immediately take it off. Anyway, great vid. Makes me wish I wasn’t going into work at the office. Ugh.

Loaded AT4X canyon is 60k and a lot of amenities plus front and rear lockers. Colorado ZR2 cost even less. Ranger raptor if ever built will be a bargain for the price. Sorry but no jeep wrangler or Gladiator is worth 70 plus k

I’m excited for a gladiator 4xE. I love the Gladiator. I did like it in a Jeep Wrangler 4xE. Wish it had a bigger battery. It would be really cool if they had a higher powered inverter (7200 watt) like the power boost. Still agree it’s overpriced for a midsize truck. I’d rather buy a half ton truck for the money of the Gladiator.
