Holy cow, this industry needs serious sales people that actually know how to communicate effectively and with passion. Also seemed like many of them didn’t really understand their product.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC CONTENT, YOU must continue this. As a long time yacht video viewer, I'm always amazed how people don't flinch when describing their $300,000 dollars fuel cost. It's so stupid. Then I found this gem of a channel. Thank you so much, I will be sharing this for years ❤

Thanks. I’ve gladly seen the updates on power, efficiency, smaller form factors, i do wonder about cruising range when fuel is not used: hulls that ergonomically fit batteries that become the keel with less invasion into the living space for cruising comfort. Basically i see e-boating as growing into the possible unlimited range of sailing (at 8-12k) with the temporary ability to outrun a storm (maybe 40k) if necessary. I guess maximizing the roof and number of solar panels is expected on a cabin cruiser.

Nice video.There's a lot of good marine EV applications available. I've been enjoying our high power Stealth electric outboard. Our 16' bow-rider has a top speed of 27 mph and a 20+ mile range. The 144v water cooled 75hp motor is powered by 3-180ah NMC batteries. It's perfect for the type of boating we enjoy. View on you tube: marks gas to electric boat conversion.

For leisure yachts the roundtrip metrics, economics and logistics on hydrogen FC never quite add up, not to mention regulations that, at least here in the EU and except for some ports are non existent, despite countless conferences. Ruling out making your own H2 on board, we are stuck with type 3 pressure tanks at 300+ bars or trucks on the jetties filling up some sort of on board tanks. It’s just not happening in marinas. PEM stacks are also very expensive to replace. I am more inclined to think we will crack cold fusion than a viable FC based marine powertrain for leisure yachts.

I know Mann had RRoyce do some work on their generator engines they produced a bolt on adapter kit that increased the efficiency of the engines by 30%... Im suprised she didnt mention that. 🤔

You always provide good content but when you talk to battery packs manufacturers I would pressure them on why automotive suppliers such as CATL are targeting $50/kWh in 2024 at HV pack level while marine applications are apparently stuck offering products that cost 10 times as much. When are their prices going to come down? We can’t expect just scale to drive the ramp.
@aqualectric-gi2ln8 ай бұрын
Thanks very much for your comments. Yes price/kwh is definitely an issue, and compounded by the size of boat, and battery capacity needed. I'll be doing a series on marine high voltage batteries and interviewing battery suppliers, and we can definitely ask those questions.

You mised the best maker of the complete system in use: Torqeedo...why?
@aqualectric-gi2ln7 ай бұрын
A valid question. The simple answer is that time at the show is limited, and I would rather spend it highlighting cool tech from up and coming companies that would benefit more from the exposure, rather than the biggest. Also, in my opinion, Torqueedo has a good system, but it is not the best. There are other motor manufacturers with more performance that also offer a complete system. Lastly, thank you very much for watching the video!

@@aqualectric-gi2ln They are also incredibly expensive for what they offer and their systems are Quite niche.

Id love it if you could organise a chat and meet the designers and makers at Advanced Electric Machines from the NE of 🇬🇧 .. they produce some very interesting and green motors that don't need rare earth's or even copper for windings. So are very simple to recycle and cheaper to make. Their motors are powerful modular and efficient and they have mastered the controlling hard and software to drive their motors and regenerate. 🌌🧙🏼♂️ They started out as a spinoff from local university research work. Durham university also developed an ultra compact and light opposed free piston generator that is perfect for small boats .. it is also simpler to make not needing a crank bearings or Conrods.

I need to do a Great Britain tour, as they are making some great electric motors and boats on the island. Thank you for the info on Advanced Electric Machines, I will look into it

@@aqualectric-gi2ln You can probably get three or four boat builders lined up that use electric power the top of the heap in terms of the tradition meets the tech in the boat building craft side is Spirit Yatchs. Wooden boats but using high tech and high art. There's also several builders along the South coast. And life boats with electric auxiliary motors to help them search at night and in fog by listening for people in the water.

Any kit for my Volvo penta??? Have solar and batterys
@aqualectric-gi2ln8 ай бұрын
Volvo Penta is developing a hybrid drive for their IPS system, with diesel shaft on one side, and electric motor on the other. I don't know if there is anything from Volvo to retro-fit an existing system, but possibly something like what Transfluid shows in the video. Of course you can do anything with the right budget

@@aqualectric-gi2ln Yes but that will garanty cost 2 arms and 1 leg. I have good prices on so much. Better get an drive ore kit to get in on extra
