you don't polish an intake port. you polish the exhaust ports. the intake ports gets the exact opposite treatment, the surface is rough to help promote atomization through turbulence. the exhaust ports are polished to reduce turbulence, which increase flow/velocity.

@pauliewalnuts240Ай бұрын
Modern fuel injection has advanced to the point were fuel injectors have perfected the fuel spray pattern so that atomization of the fuel occurs upon injection into the fast flow of air entering the head... Many higher revving 4 strokes, engines that rev over 8k rpm, do indeed use polished intake & exhaust ports. inline 4 sport bikes commonly have this. Inorder to make power at high rpm, you need to maximize the cfm so that the most air flows in. Rough ports work against you at high rpm. polished ports are also used to prevent carbon build up in modern engines. On Older engines that used carburetors, it was important to leave the intake ports a little rough, so turbulence could mix the fuel and air for better atomization.

Polished intake ports mean more air quicker. I ported my mustang intake manifold for example. More air in, more horsepower, depending on if you can flow enough air out to make that worth while
@jaysmokey29 күн бұрын
@AntDePietto51 atomization is more important than volume. Unless you remove enough material to make a difference.

The only reason for the $13,500 MSRP is that Kawasaki already knows they are going to have to do deep rebates to move them… That makes their $2500 rebate $1500 instead. They just padded the price up front!

The the 2025 kx450sr is hands down the best bike I have ever owned, the bike is so fast on the aggressive mode it’s so much fun! i have the 23 SR and the 24 model as well. I don't understand why everyone is hating on the 24 KX 450 about the power, yeah it's a little mild stock but not anywhere as bad as people exaggerate it to be. I put on a full PC exhaust modified the airbox a bit and a vortex ECU and it now has more bottom end grunt than my 23 SR.

You buy a 450 expecting a handful of violent power and should get what you pay for. Wait for next year; hopefully, AI suspension is going to be ready to be used on MX bikes. That means, no need to manually adjust for a specific track or specific conditions. Within a few laps the system-software will 'learn' the terrain particularities and adjust accordingly. This learning will continue throughout the course of an event, and adjust automatically while you're riding. And this will also level the field between amateurs and pros who have the best suspension mechanics currently, to figure out these adjustments.

@ sick dude, love that bike. First nice dirt bike I have ever owned, my first big purchase as an adult. I grew up riding some really old beaters and made due with what I had… 1976 xl 75 >> 1979 rm 125 >> 1989 kx125 (loved that bike) >> 1996 yz250 (huge upgrade in bike handling and power) >> 2008 kx450. When I first rode my 450 I could not believe the power. Completely different animal to the 2 strokes I was used to, and really upped my skills. I was able to start making way better hill climbs and had excellent suspension for learning how to hit woops. My 450 has been sitting for a couple years and I really want to do a big maintenance on it, get some fresh plastics in which I’d like to find more of the modern fenders for the style… but I need to find some buddies to ride with. Moved to a new state and have no friends lol 😂
