For what it's worth, the chord progression you're using puts the song in the key of G. G would be the I (Roman numeral 1 or tonic chord), C is IV (4) chord, D is the V(5) chord, Bm is the iii (3 minor) chord, and F#m the vii (minor 7).

JB! Glad you pointed this out! I wasn't sure initially what key it was in since it's using the G and C9 chords (usually indicative of Key of G). I think it still might be in the Key of D based on Worship Together: (www.worshiptogether.com/songs/holy-water-we-the-kingdom/). I've heard the C chord in this video referenced as a "Flat 7" since/if it's in the Key of D. I'm definitely not a music theory junkie so I'm curious to get your thoughts!

It does seem to be in D (playing the D major scale over the progression sounds perfect) but it is peculiar that C and F are both sharp in the key of D (DEF#GABC#). That could mean that the D major scale sounds good played over that particular chord progression because it is actually the mixolydian mode which is the 5th mode of the G major scale ( I know it sounds crazy). Otherwise, the harmonized D major scale would require that the C chord be sharp and a diminished chord and the F would be sharp and minor. In other words it’s probably technically in G. However, my music theory is still in its early stages so I could be mistaken. Just do what makes you happy 😃 God Bless you
