Why shouldn't this topic be discussed? This man needs our appreciation though most of us may never follow this path.

I don't want to get married, but what wrong if I want to have my own biological child? Why Indian society is still limited to adoption when it comes to the topic of single parent?

I see the topic and discussion is good but Burkha is very arrogant. She starts shouting whenever somebody does not agree with her and have a different view and does not even allow that person to speak. This is not good journalism. She is fake and not secured.

There more needs to be done to educate people in India on this matter. Enjoyed the conversation thoroughly and seeing some beautiful people who have taken it upon themselves to take this to a next level. Bravo!! 👏🏻

Probably no one can really understand n decide which is better for kids unless you experience the both family.. It is as if asking which gender is better.. U can't explain unless you have been the both.. But the important thing is a kid gets a life n the parent gets a reason to wake up every morning.

I understand that Barkha Dutt is one of more famous journalists in India, but I rarely get a sense that she has any substantive information of any topic, or for that matter even any intellectual sincerity or maturity. She has complex about being a woman, being unmarried, having no children and everything else that many women in 1980s and 1990s went through in India where they made choice to put career above family as that is the only feminism that they knew, instead of other feminists who saw family as part of feminism and career and not divorced from it. I feel sad for Dutt as she seems to have missed out on getting married, having meaningful relations and having children, and seem to be going through midlife crisis as her career cannot fulfill every vacuum in her life. When the woman at 5 minutes said that being mother was very important to her, Barkha' body language is quite telling. Many such moments in whole show.

what a crappy comment....most probably from a chauvinist male or a dumb jealous female who thinks that a woman cant be fulfilled unless and until she has a child ...if u think she has missed out on getting married and having kids then i think u ve missed out on having a career and freedom to do whatever she wants ...i think thats the main reason of ur jealousy..btw she has got PADMA SHREE ..one of the biggest award ..sorry poor backward woman ..u wont be getting even a measly award even if u give birth to 10 kids ...u know why ?? cuz even a pig does that ..it dsnt take any iq to give birth ...u r sooooo egocentric and mean

1) every child is special ... what a baloney!! a child grows up thinking he/she is special because told by his momma or dadda who are either too permissive or authoritarian and then when steps in to the real world (multicultural and diverse) where he is told or comes in contact with children who are not taught or grown up in his way . gets bullied or social outcasted or much worse becuse they dont think align with his feeling. why isnt he/she is made aware of the practical reality of being accountable, disciplined to begin with?? because parents shield him from the bad side of world and that contradicts his judgement and jeopardizes his social skills. 2) Adoption i think its a noble cause, but thorough background checks has to be done on the applicant before approving criteria being social media , past criminal records, family geneology, political views ( not affiliation to any party) financial track records, job security. this will weed lots of yoyo applicants who considers child just as pet project and not responsibility 3)in india still conservative pattern is prominant,(a child needs both mom and dad) so it will take time to implement progressive liberal political correctedness and identity politics in this domain. (parenthood) 4) being modern doesnt always has to meant emulating western ideology, thorough research is needed. India is not delhi, mumbai, kolkatta, bangaluru, chennai, ( my problem with ndtv debate they dont bring much of rural aspect or portray them with rudimentary terms and views which are not in sync with ndtv. ) it's also angamaly. salem, hassan, guntur, sagar, nanded, mahesana, nagaon, gaya, jaunpur. and many more..,... after watching the whole debate.... how do you judge a poor debate.? or one sided one 1)the moderator frequent interruption when someone tries to explain their narrative 2) moderator/activist triggered. 3) inadequate and lack of presentation skills, bring religion and cultural aspect gets laughed on ... triggered 4) milllineals choice of question influenced by pc culture and inspired by facebook whatsapp university.

Being myself is my choice! I don't a permission from the government! BJP says in next 5yrs a child when born needs BJPs permission.. later they will decide how the child needs to be born and as what!

Oh God you're obsessed with BJP and RSS. They're here for almost 5 year in clear majority. They're not the real reason of this India's typical mentality and narrow minded culture it's 70 years Congress government

This debate is wrong on so many levels. If the question is, 'is single parenting ok?' The answer would be 'not preferiable, but if inevetiable embrase it'. But the direction of the debate is as such that they r promoting single parenting. A simple way to ask Bharka's questions is to go to an adult who has had a 2 patent family and ask would he have preffered 1 of his parent missing while growing up???
