If I may offer my 2-cents since we kinda gotta video coming out soon on this very topic. The KO2 is a _desert racing_ tire. Marketing over the years has tried to convince buyers that A/T tires can "do it all". They can't, the KO was designed to romp down here in the Mojave and win the Baja 1000. A dedicated snow/winter tire with or without studs will _demolish_ snow... chains even better... but a KO2 in the snow is like a set of Blizzaks down here in the desert. All A/T tires are basically KO clones (desert oriented). Get a 2nd set of true winter tires... stud and chain them and you'll laugh at the difference 😃✌️

Chains and studs are used for ice! Not powder. My two cents is that no body air‘s down enough when in the snow. You should be in single digit numbers when in the snow. Your guys trucks could have easily plowed through that snow.

@Hmoob10120 күн бұрын
Agreed on the lowering the air pressure down to single digits just make sure not too low or youll risk popping bead unless you have bead lock, for the stud n chain they not good on deep snow they tend to dig you deeper into the ground instead of floating on top the condition of the snow play a big part too I find fresh soft powder are the easiest to drive on and heavy slush snow are the hardest

Looks great out there! I have had a few chances to wheel in the snow. Snow wheeling is a different level, especially if it’s old snow. Desirably, I’d go with single digit for lowering my psi. Probably go around 6-9 psi. But without beadlock, it’s risky. 99% snow wheeling is just getting stuck. 😂 unless you have big tires on beadlocks and below 9 psi. There’s also trails that have been run over so the snow is compact. Those are scary too for ice may be present. Lol
@eddyx_8121 күн бұрын
@ it’s always cool and great to be out in the snow! And agree, we’re learning so the next time we go out, we need to assess the snow conditions and air down more. We’ve seen 4 vehicles that day getting stuck so it makes me feel good knowing we weren’t the only ones 😆.

Kind of disappointed how the GX was struggling in the beginning… especially backing out… would proper winter tires would make a lot of difference or the snow was too deep and wet?
@eddyx_8121 күн бұрын
@@IgorUA95 lots of factors at play. That was a week old snow so what was beneath it was ice. I should’ve aired down to 8-10psi vs 15psi so it’s not the GXs fault, plus the GX has nearly 500lbs more weight than the other two so weight is another factor.

@wellthatdidntwork20 күн бұрын
I wouldnt say get rid of any metal recovery gear...thats alil extreme. Is synthetic "safer"? Yes, but there are things to think about when using cable winches. Not only do i have a badlands 12k lbs cable winch, ive used cable extensively out in the woods logging with no issues. Ive seen some pretty big timber pulled with a cable skidder! The main things to remember when using a cable winch is making sure your cable isnt frayed or damaged, always use the proper hitch points so for example, never hook your winch to a vehicle that has a ball style hitch meant for towing a trailer. Also, make sure you have a weighted bag over your cable. If it were to break that bag will force the cable to the ground and wont allow it to fly through the air and become a danger. Lastly, dont stand beside the cable while its in use which may seem like common sense but id be an idiot to assume everyone has common sense. Lol. Keep exploring and making good content! Im pretty interested in the lexus suv for an overland rig. Maybe in the near future ill get one and start my build
