13:22 Not all diesels run with oil pressurized injectors. Ford's 7.3L and 6.0L use a so called "HEUI" system - Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injectors. They feed fuel at relatively low pressure, and engine oil at high pressure to all the injectors, then use a solenoid to fire a plunger that uses the high pressure oil to pressurize the fuel and inject it into the cylinder all at the same time. This is different from a "common rail" diesel system that uses simple solenoid valves on each injector, but the whole fuel rail is under high pressure. "Unit Injectors" are pretty common, being invented for diesel engines in the early 1900s. They have the advantage of not requiring a high pressure fuel pump and fuel lines. Before electronic engine control, each one was actuated with a camshaft or some other mechanical linkage.

I worked for Detroit Diesel for 22 years, ours used the camshaft operated injectors for years and years. It didn't go to common rail till like 2009 or something. I'm talking back in the late 60s till 2010. Only the International's stuck with the HUEI system forever(garbage system)

Agree about Colton. Seems like he's more gregarious now than at first. Hey, you do a lot of building, you need to make a fully-equipped tool truck to take to the events you go to. Not only to support your vehicles, but it's a good advertisement for your business! Power tools, nuts and bolts, metal tubing, everything you need for field repairs. Welder, power hacksaw, everything! Lots of extra blades for the power tools, too. Put a fridge in it for your field food.

Note for Hillbilly: Its not all diesels. Just diesels that use the HEUI systems. Some diesels use only pressurized fuel.

Was gonna say.. seen too many blown diesels from no oil pressure (or just no oil) Then again, a diesel runaway is scary if you can't easily stop it. (Especially downhill, on a bumpy country lane about to meet a main rd, don't ask how I know 😅)

Just three great friends enjoying some great off road vehicles and activities. You said it right... what a great place to get ideas and such for your builds. What you need is a older "pop up tent trailer "... pull the axle and mount it on your vehicle trailer... then you can pull your vehicle up on the trailer... and when you get some place like this. Pull off the vehicle and pop up the tent trailer.. roll out the sleeping bags and enjoy the event... a place to stay.. fix coffee in the morning... simple and easy... nothing fancy... but allowa a place to grab some sleep out of the weather... or... just invest in a toy hauler and go from there... wrapped in Layton Nation advertising ! 😎👍

Only 7.3 and 6.0 are HEUI systems. Modern deisels are high pressure fuel and mechanical diesels are mechanical injector pop.

Hi Roddie I’ve watched you since the start when you worked on the Golden Nugget and love it when your kids are on telling jokes etc gives you uTube that little bit extra,. Night you mentioned when you were at King of the Hammers that you liked the Honda atc 70’s we lit happens that I bought my son one back in 1987 and still have it I then got my daughter on in 1988 and when on to get hooked on collecting them and ended up with 15 in total all original. I am now about to sell them all and keep the 1st 2 that my kids started out with, only issue is that I’m in Scotland but if you don’t manage to pickup in USA then you know where they are. Keep making great videos and look forward to see plenty with your crew boss, hillbilly Colton and the rest of the team.

Pipe bending is rough, I used to bend a bunch of pipe for my old job. No training, just a hand pipe bender, and KZbin. It took some time but I figured it out...lol... I hope that the next time I get to visit Ephraim UT it's not a holiday weekend and you guys are open.

I had Jiffy change the oil of an E450 Diesel less than 50 miles later the oil light came on. I checked and found the plug was also missing. So I know the feeling.

no hillbilly all diesel engines do not fire the injectors from oil pressure. The engines that do, like the powerstroke are called the Huey system and they have 2 oil pumps , lower pressure for the engine bearings and feeding the high pressure pump which supplies the system for the injectors with up to 2000 psi. That's how they get diesel fuel to run yes. However not all, Cummins 5.9 doesn't use that system and many others

Hey Robby. Just so you are aware, all diesels that use HEUI need high pressure oil to fire the injectors. Cummins pickup truck engines have never fired like this, and I am not aware of those systems on Duramax engines either. I know a lot of large truck engines use them but I am not well versed in commercial large displacement engines to name them. Hope this helps!

I took my 95 Toyota 4runner in for an oil change at a local shop. I picked it up, and on the 5 minute drive home, it shut off on me and wouldn't start, so upon inspection, I found the oil plug was missing and a trail if oil behind me. It shut down before any damage occurred, thankfully.

I forgot to tighten my drain plug on my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee then headed to work the next morning, watched my oil pressure plummet pulled off the freeway to discover my mistake. Called AAA got towed to work, after work went to O'riley's in a coworkers ride picked up a new plug and oil. Like nothing ever happened.

Robby you guys need to put the limos suspension and tires on the short bus that you have. I think that the bus would look really good with that suspension would look fantastic on the bus. Let's be real about the lamo , it's not going back together the lamo got stripped down way to far & it's to far gone, rotted out.
