We took FRIENDS to SONGKRAN - VLOGUMENTARY - Bangkok Thailand Khaosan Khao San Road 2024

In our first video for Thai Adventures Season 3 we take our friends, for their first time in Thailand, to enjoy Songkran Festival 2024 around Bangkok and Khaosan Road.
First we fly from Heathrow, to Dubai and then to Bangkok and transfer to DMK on the shuttle bus and then fly Air Asia to Krabi. After a few days in Krabi we fly back to Bangkok for Songkran 2024. We check into INNSiDE by Melia on Sukhumvit 50 then buy some food at the Lotus Mall and stock up on water pistols for the following day. We catch the BTS to EMSPHERE in Em District and the catch a Tuk Tuk to Khoasan Road for their Songkran Water Festival celebration which is the worlds largest water fight.
Khoa san road is favoured by backpackers in Thailand which is one of the top rated places to visit in Bangkok. We bump into fellow KZbinr Hashtag and have fun with water fights with a Thai Girl. We then go to the clubs in Khaosan and the atmosphere builds and the music gets louder and the party starts.

Your observation about the Thai people, and their behaviour reminded me of a video posted, during COVID, in a small Thai village, where one of the local leaders, had put together a small foodbank to help out those who needed it. The YT channel owner was interviewing him, and in the background, you could see people literally licking up just one or two items and leaving. Even though the economic impact was severe, these people were still considering that there were others in need, and taking only just what they actually needed. Very emotional to see. As you elude to, every country has its issues, but generally speaking, the Thai people are very deserving of their reputation as a welcoming, friendly and respectful people.

@@ivysdadd 14 April of every year is also the Family Day in Thailand, we use this day to ask for blessing and pay respect to the elders. The elders will sit on the chair then the younger will go down on knees and pouring water on the hands of the elders. Thais believe blessing from parents or the elders is the greatest. Ivy pours water on your hands and you give Ivy a blessing.

I'd been to Thailand twice before, both in November, and then I unexpectedly had some time off, and money in the bank, so literally booked a flight and flew a day or two later, but this time it was about April time. I had no idea about Songkran, I didn't know what it was, but as I flew into Phuket, I very quickly realised this was not a normal day. I used to stay in a small hotel in Patong, run by a brit called Danny, and it was down a small side street to the south of Patong. The taxi couldn't get down there, so I got out, to walk the 50 or so metres down the alleyway to the hotel, and I almost made it too. After about 20hrs of travelling, 3 flights, and one taxi, I almost made it. There's Danny, sat at the bar, on the ground floor to the hotel, pi55ing himself laughing, as I, suitcase in one hand, bag in the other, was completely helpless as a whole bowl of water was ceremoniously poured over my head, just metres from the sanctuary of my hotel. Welcome to Songkran.

That's a great VLOG. I liked it. Next Songkran Festival, I recommend coming to splash water on Silom Road or in front of the Central World shopping mall. Because there were a lot of people coming to play in the water. But having said that, they play at every place in Bangkok as Soi Nana, Soi Cowboy at Sukhumvit area. lf you want to see the traditional Thai Songkran culture. We recommend coming to Sanam Luang near Wat Phra Kaew or the Grand Palace. It's not too far to walk from Khao San Road. With love and friendship from a Thai person and Always welcome to Thailand.
