WOW, with the high-quality equipment used in this home cinema it should sound and look amazing in person. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour, the room looks outstanding and ticks all the boxes. Doing it right the first time saves time and money, great job guys !!!!!

Five day plus install...huge effort guys. Well done. Just shows how much effort and detail you guys ensure goes into every job...not just in design but on site. Definitely no "hang n' bang" 🙂

Thanks Dream AV. I have to say its a great feeling to be constantly surprised or pleased by the outcome. Makes this a great job to have. The picture and sound in this room is truly spectacular. The Bragi really delivers.

Nice job guys and man what a picture. What are the room dimensions?

It just goes to show why you need to measure and verify. Who would of thought the two rel’s at the rear would be best at that position.

Hi Andrew and David. Looks like another outstanding install to add to your list. What are the room's dimensions? What size scope screen did you use? How many chairs will be installed?

Very high end function over substance home cinema 🎬 Picture from projector could be improved even more by having the darkest black velvet instead of grey fabric walls etc. But most people (myself included) don't want a completely pitch black dungeon room aesthetics. Always a fine balance of how the room looks with the lights on and off.

Hi CA much as your other recent comment I agree re absorptive material however my answers are the same. That fabric looks great on day one but can look awful in a year or two and if not very carefully applied even ghastly on day one ! Also as mentioned you are judging this room based on iphone images. The walls are actually coated in a dense black chalk or powder paint that heavily dampens reflections and in real life looks great. Also ambient light on the screen is minimal due to the light absorbing fabric on the 2 closest acoustic absorbers and the angle of the stepped ceiling pelmet preventing light from returning to the screen that floats off the wall at a distance to the pelmet that prevents this. All of this was taken into account at the design stage. Hope that helps.

@@HomeTheatreEngineering I said there was a trade off between aesthetics and getting the best image quality which is correct. I myself wouldn't ever have black velvet throughout the whole room (apart from maybe the front wall) as then the atmosphere vibe of the room is severely lowered when the lights are on. Wouldn't be a room I would want to come into regularly. I like putting my own stamp on decor being unique different from the norm. But some people (probably a minority) don't mind the decor room aesthetics being completely pure black. It does however bring the image up a notch or two regardless if it's a mid, high end, super high end projector. Pitch black no light reflections visible whatsoever viewing movies apart from the screen. The home cinema in the video looks nice, not too dark where it becomes unappealing. And I've no doubt video audio performance is excellent.

Nice work, What screen material was used from Si, and what size was used With the Bragi?

Thanks for that 👍Would you believe though there are layers well above this. You should see our Wisdom and Freya cinema and there are setups even better than that.. it’s amazing where this can go and the detail and precision now is mind blowing..

@@HomeTheatreEngineering Would similar sized Wisdom speakers really measure better than the Procella speakers used in this room? Or sound audibly better? Unless it was the big Wisdoms in a much bigger room. But Procella also have bigger speakers too for bigger rooms. Perlisten THX Dominus in-wall's though expensive would match or better the much more expensive Wisdoms etc for a home cinema room. I can't see them measuring better than the Perlisten speakers Audioholics and Erin's Audio corner measured. Anyway speakers at the reference level are subjective as some like horns JBL, JTR, some like line arrays, some like dome tweeters etc. Expert calibration from people like you is more important. And video side some DIY cinema rooms actually have a better overall image with top line JVC projectors. Even though not having a super high end £100,000± Barco or Christie projector. Because they use the best light absorbing MVEL or Devore on every single wall, ceiling, plus a black carpet. Most super high end cinemas (not all) use lighter much more reflective grey fabric walls and grey carpet for the aesthetics side, to look prettier.

@@C--A Yes! Wisdom would be significantly better by an order of magnitude especially if they were line source and for a host of reasons. Line source solves a lot of audio challenges and is my go to option when possible. Perlisten are nice but again there are many reasons that Wisdom would be better. The specific construction of their PMD for one, no crossover in the voice range, higher cleaner SPL so yes wisdom would be an upgrade. Re image yes you can put light absorbing material around a room and it can look great on day one and does a good job with ambient light but there are pro’s and con’s. It can look awful after a year or two and in sone cases starts to bubble and peel over time. But yes great for light absorption no argument there. But to say a Top line JVC on its own produces a better image than a Barco with a MadVR I do not believe is correct and based on what metrics? If you are talking just looking better in a room with light absorbing fabric then a Barco in the same area room with a MadVR will then in my opinion be better. Why? The list is extensive but pixel structure is superior as is the optics of Barco over say JVC not to mention the image after the MadVR has done its magic. Bear in mind you are also judging this room based on images caught in auto ISO and exposure on an iphone and that doesn’t compare to the actual experience. Finally having calibrated both I can say yes the JVC are great value as are the new Sony and kudos to them for sure but after having worked with them all my favourite is still the Bragi especially the CS.

@@HomeTheatreEngineering Cheers for the reply. Yeah no crossover in the voice range would be a advantage for the Wisdom. As well as a even sound for the off centre seats. The Perlisten S7i THX Dominus certified in-wall speaker has very high SPL with very low distortion. In most rooms it wouldn't be pushed at anywhere near the highest SPL. Plus Perlisten have actually backed up their claims sent their speakers to unbiased Audioholics, Erin's Audio Corner to measure intensively. I've no doubt Wisdom line array speakers are great and measure well but no third party detailed measurements online to actually prove them measuring better overall than flagships from other manufacturers. And assuming flagship Wisdom line arrays, Perlisten in-wall's, JBL/JTR horns etc all measure excellent which they should. Then it comes down to which you like the sound of in a room better. Some people audibly prefer the sound of horns, some domes, some line arrays. None is going to be the best, just the best for the specific persons tastes. Yes obviously a top Barco or Christie would comfortably beat a top JVC both in a completely black velvet room. And I wasn't talking about the room in the video, the projected image looked great reference even though it wasn't viewed in person . I said a top JVC in a completely black velvet room could come close or possibly slightly better a Barco in a lighter grey room (a lighter grey than in the video) a lot of high end rooms have even lighter grey or lighter colour scheme than in the video. Keep up the videos happy holidays 🎉

Can I ask a question in reference the the calibration when a MadVR is involved please? Do you essentially calibrate SDR on the projector, measure the max light output and then input that into the MadVR to tone map?
@HomeTheatreEngineering Жыл бұрын
Good question. The answer is no. Especially with the Bragi it’s more, well I don’t want to say complicated but let’s say “involved” it does not calibrate like a Sony or JVC. You set the Bragi to receive DCI P3 colour space and set it to HDR even though it is receiving an SDR signal (as no HDR flag is being received) and bring in the DCI filter then calibrate white point and then the primaries and secondaries for DCI after calculating the max achievable colour gamut. You then calculate the gains for primaries and secondaries and enter those then verify. Then you run a LUT calibration with the MadVR and load the LUT into the madVR and the measure the max white and enter that and then verify the LUT. Hope that helps. Remember you can’t use a normal colorimeter on laser and some LED projectors due to the narrow colour bandwidth.

The door need to be the same density as the wall
@HomeTheatreEngineering Жыл бұрын
That is completely inaccurate. What gave you this idea and for what reason are you stating this? Sound isolation or acoustic treatment. Do you know if sound isolation is even a concern for the client? Also our walls are double clay brick. Are you saying a door has to be also that dense? Door design is totally dependent on client needs and acoustic goals not to mention budget.. more information supporting that statement is required.
