So your doughnut dough wasn't rising because it wasn't warm enough. Your flat was just too cold for the yeast to rise. I put it above a radiator or in the airing cupboard, or even in a slightly warmed (not hot!) oven.

Tip from someone who bakes. The yeast needs to get activated for about 5 minutes in a place that is dark and doesnt have much air. I usually just let the yeast do its thing in a microwave that isn't on. When you make the dough itself, you should put it in tubberware and then into the refrigerator over night. The overnight resting is what gives donuts the light and fluffy texture
@lunallama90584 жыл бұрын
So the yeast has to be left in the dark before even putting it in the dough?
@Penguien0014 жыл бұрын
The dough needed to proof in a warm environment or left out overnight with plastic or a towel over it.

Most blow torches have a switch that you can use to control how much gas comes out of it making the flame bigger or smaller. Also, usually bruleeing is done with white sugar in a very thin layer. If the layer is too thick the sugar on the top will burn before the sugar below it gets hot enough to melt and caramelize. Hopefully this helps someone who wants to try this recipe or if ty decides to make them again!

Some tips that might help (not trying to be rude at all, that’s not my intentions) 1.) when making the doughnut shape roll out the dough then take 2 cookie cutters (one small and another doughnut size one) to make the doughnuts more doughnut shape 2.) I haven’t made creme brûlée but I’m pretty sure you should use white sugar instead of brown sugar 3.) maybe use a little less sugar on top Like I said, my intentions are not to be rude I just thought they might be helpful tips, and even though they used brown sugar when they cracked the crunchy layer it was very satisfying to my ears...

Sometimes you have to let the yeast mixture sit and activate for about 20 minutes before adding it to the rest of the dough mixture, maybe that's why it didn't rise? Just a thought!
@yukiyuukichan57716 жыл бұрын
Jacqueline Marie Nope it wouldn't have, he has to less fat and water in that dough. And he killed the yeast by adding to less water to the sugar/yeast/water mixture. to much sugar is deadly to it

I know this is an older video, and I am visiting you guys from 2020, but could you please make more like this? Because this is funny and great. Even though it’s just kind of thrown together and not perfect, it was so entertaining along the way, that it didn’t matter.

Seconded: more Chef Ty, pretty please - and give Saf a blowtorch, just below Dee-Dee level. :-)

Here's something I noticed, at 9:24 you can see the burnt m&M's protruding out. Now I'm not completely sure but I think that this is a kind of reaction similar to fire snakes, when you mix sugar and baking soda together and then light on fire.

It doesn't look like you let the yeast water and sugar mixture activate before adding it to the rest of the ingredients. It takes 10-15 minutes, the yeast will start to froth and bubble. If you don't do that first it will take way longer to lift your dough.
@yukiyuukichan57716 жыл бұрын
Lauren It could not activate cause there was to less water in ratio to the flour and sugar
