**Using racial slurs** Arin Hanson has used the n-word multiple times in both old and new videos. He has apologized for these instances, but some people feel that his apologies are not sincere. **Making insensitive comments** Hanson has made a number of insensitive comments over the years, on topics such as race, gender, and sexual orientation. For example, he once made a joke about how he would rather have sex with a corpse than a transgender woman. **Handling a charity stream poorly** In 2017, Hanson hosted a charity stream to raise money for Hurricane Harvey relief. However, he was criticized for making insensitive comments during the stream, and for not doing enough to promote the fundraiser. **Being rude to fans** Hanson has been accused of being rude to fans on multiple occasions, both online and in person. For example, he has been known to block fans on social media for criticizing him, and he has been accused of being dismissive and dismissive of fans at meet-and-greets. **Lying about his uncle Cecil** In 2012, Hanson tweeted that his mother was forcing him to promote his uncle Cecil's new book. He later admitted that this was a lie, and that he did not even have an uncle Cecil. **Criticizing the Newgrounds animation community** In 2019, Hanson criticized the Newgrounds animation community for being "mean" and "toxic." This was met with backlash from many animators, who pointed out that Hanson himself got his start on Newgrounds and has made some very offensive and controversial content in the past. **Defending his friend Ben** In 2020, Hanson's friend Ben was accused of making inappropriate comments to a minor. Hanson initially defended Ben, but later apologized for doing so after the accusations were substantiated. **Being accused of hypocrisy** Hanson has been accused of hypocrisy on multiple occasions, for example, for criticizing other people for making offensive jokes while making offensive jokes himself. **The "DingDong" controversy** In 2017, Ding Dong, a member of the KZbin channel OneyPlays, was invited to playtest Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator, a game developed by Game Grumps. Ding Dong is a gay man, and he had some concerns about the portrayal of gay men in the game. He shared his concerns with the developers, but he said that they were not receptive. After Dream Daddy was released, Ding Dong and his co-host Julian made a video critiquing the game. They said that the game was stereotypical and that it did not accurately represent the LGBTQ+ community. They also accused the developers of being disingenuous in their portrayal of gay men. The video sparked a controversy among the Game Grumps fanbase. Some fans defended the developers, while others agreed with Ding Dong and Julian. The controversy also led to some fans harassing Ding Dong and Julian. The developers of Dream Daddy never responded publicly to Ding Dong and Julian's criticisms. **The "Suzy is a bad artist" controversy** In 2018, Hanson's wife, Suzy Berhow, posted some of her artwork online. Some people criticized the artwork, and Hanson responded by defending his wife. He said that people were being too critical of her work, and that she was a talented artist. The controversy led to some people accusing Hanson of being sexist and of protecting his wife from criticism. **The "Dan is leaving Game Grumps" controversy** In 2019, Hanson and his co-host, Dan Avidan, took a break from making Game Grumps videos. Some fans speculated that Avidan was leaving the show. Hanson denied these rumors, but they persisted. Eventually, Hanson and Avidan returned to making videos, but the controversy damaged their relationship with some fans. **The "NFTs" controversy** In 2022, Hanson announced that he was selling NFTs. NFTs are digital tokens that are stored on a blockchain. They have been criticized for being environmentally harmful and for being a scam. Hanson's decision to sell NFTs was met with backlash from some fans. **Creator Clash 2** Arin Hanson is one of the creators participating in Creator Clash 2, a boxing event featuring KZbinrs and other influencers. The event is being promoted as a charity event, with the proceeds going to various charities. However, there is some controversy surrounding the event, as some people believe that the creators are making money off of it. This is because the creators are being paid for their participation in the event, and they are also receiving a percentage of the profits from ticket sales and merchandise sales. Hanson has defended his participation in the event, saying that he is doing it for charity. He has also said that he will be donating all of his earnings from the event to charity

@@chainreaction2.517 You plan on attaching this on every comment? Because if so this smear campaign you’re running is gonna take a while. I know you might think you’re informing people and saving them from something, but you’re kinda just being really obsessive and weird about it. But hey, since you gifted me with this novel, here’s one from me to you: I’m making some assumptions here, but something tells me you’re a very conscientious person. You like to look at both sides and you determine right from wrong just fine with that moral compass of yours. You must like standing up for what you believe in, and defending others. That’s very honorable and noble, and I’m glad the people in your life have someone who has those qualities. But I get the sense you’re sorta lacking in that real world experience. Because if you did have it, you’d know that there are some people who are just always doomed to walk a rocky path. Now what I mean by that is, being good just doesn’t come easy to them. They grew up and matured around people, or in a time where it was socially acceptable to say certain things and act a certain way. So it takes a while for them to sort out their compass, and when they finally do it’s most definitely too late in a few areas. Then they might overcompensate by trying to be someone new, and usually that just doesn’t sit well with people, or it just hurts someone else. What the hell are these people to do though? I mean it’s never enough to make up for things. They change, it’s not enough. They try to make up for what they’ve done, not enough. They somehow make amends and devote themselves to becoming a better person, well maybe- but they’re constantly being watched and the instant they fuck up it’s bye-bye, have fun never being a part of society again. It’s just cruel at some point y’know? I’m not saying never stand up for what’s right, but there’s a line you cross at some point when you go after people with the intent to tear them completely down. Beside that they will never be the people you want them to be, they can only be themselves. And that’s true of anyone you’ll meet. Most people suck a little actually, I don’t think I’ve ever met a single person who was just good. I can’t imagine famous people are any different. They aren’t gods, or paragons of perfection and virtue like we want them to be. Truly if you want every famous person ever to only be a flawless saint, you’re going to be very disappointed with most of the people who are in the spotlight. They’re not perfect and they never will be. You will most certainly wear yourself out typing before you find a perfect, flawless human being. Now I understand that he’s done some things that truly have no excuse. And I’m sure he’ll go the rest of his life with a special, burdensome guilt over those things because of people like you. But here’s the thing about that- there’s only so much crusading and canceling you can do before you end up ruining people’s lives, before you’ve become indistinguishable from the people you so avidly hate. If you spent half the time you did trying to hurt people who’ve done wrong, by instead doing something that improves yourself or your loved ones lives, you might feel the urge to type these epitaphs of loathing slip away and that would only be good for you. Really what is yours to gain by making yourself to be the David to his Goliath? Nothing. If you and anyone else who hates this guy so intensely actually succeeded in canceling him and just shutting him out of society, would you finally feel satiated in your desire for humiliation? Would tearing him down bring you that much joy? Would seeing him depressed, working at a Denny’s until he has enough shame to off himself make you happy? And if so I want you to ask yourself how different that makes you from him, or someone worse, or people who have actively rejoiced in the pain of others throughout time for one reason or another. Point taken, the man has done shitty things, like a lot of people have in their lifetimes. But no one is perfect, I would say least of all famous people. They just seem that way, because they have the capital and means to project a creaseless facade, unlike regular people. So I kind of understand the need to tear down that facade and show people what lies underneath… Only when you meet a regular person in real life who rubs you wrong, and they show you their bad side, you stop engaging with them until they’re out of your life. You don’t run a takedown operation in the YT comments of another channel to inform people of every sin this person ever committed. And if you do then I can’t imagine you’ll ever have to worry about people bothering you. Indeed I don’t know if you’ll ever be trifled by other people if you’re constantly whistleblowing on their pasts and their mistakes. I can say with certainty though that airing out this guy’s dirty laundry will bring you no satisfaction. Anyway, I don’t know if you’ll see this, or take it to heart because I’m fairly certain your hatred is on autopilot with the copy-pasting. But I hope you find whatever you’re looking for, or accomplish whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish. I hope you’ve got some more important irons in the fire that see themselves to fruition. And I sincerely hope that in your life and in anything you do, you find untold success and peace. Take care, stranger.

@@chainreaction2.517most of these are just subjective opinions, such as: "feeling" his apologies aren't sincere, describing his actions as "insensitive", the dream daddy drama is just plain dumb because ding dong can't speak for a whole community, ergo subjective, calling him sexist for defending his wife, it is basic common sense to care for and defend a loved one. Him being rude to fans is also subjective as people can interpret his demeanor in any way. Arin is a kinda nerdy, introverted, dark-humored type of guy who is an easy target for the easily impressionable and offended audience.

The parasocial nature of the Game Grumps fan base is evident in the way that some fans have reacted to Arin Hanson's controversies, with some fans defending him to a concerning degree, even in the face of credible evidence of wrongdoing. An example of this is the "DingDong" controversy, where some fans harassed Ding Dong and Julian after they criticized Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator. The fans felt that Ding Dong and Julian were attacking Arin Hanson and Game Grumps, and they responded by harassing them online and at meet-and-greets. This is just one example of the parasocial nature of the Game Grumps fan base. Some fans feel a strong connection to Arin Hanson and Game Grumps, and they can be very defensive of them. This can lead to some fans dismissing or even denying Arin Hanson's controversies.@@brayancepeda1814
