Looking solely at the in-game images, I feel like some more grounded analogs would be: Dream Fluff - Dandelion Joy Root Clover - Spearmint Citronia Seed - Bergamot or Kumquat Peppercherry - Rose hips Tonic flower - Ginger Oasis Leaf - Ginseng Brisk Berry - Konpeitō (Japanese star-candy) Cinder Horse - Seahorse (but evidently they taste like seaweed, so that's a good vegan replacement i guess?) Although YOUR interpretations were much more creative and made for a funnier video! I gotta try the Elysian Error at some point 😉

This was such a fun video! As a kid, I think the tea game fascinated me partly because it bridged the gap between British tea culture and (broadly) modern Asian tea culture! Corn whisker tea is a thing and one of my favorites - and I always imagined goji berries / elderberries in place of the Brisk Berry + ginger as Tonic Flower + yuzu as Citronia Seed! The latter is still my go to comfort drink - if you have a sweet tooth, highly recommend getting your hands on some yuzu marmalade at a local Asian food mart and mixing a spoonful into hot water.

to avoid the pains you went through, I would probably use these ingredients: oasis leaf: pandan or lemongrass brisk berry: hard candy or coffee beans (very brisk, and made from a berry) citronia seed:fresh lemon zest or dried or candied lemon peel dream fluff: cotton candy fits, but so do dried dandelion flowers (when yellow, not fluffy) joy root clover: maybe wild garlic? clover doesn't really have a strong flavor tonic flower: that's just dandelion root, which does have some medicinal properties. pepper cherry: to be honest id just use chili flake, or maybe sun dried cherry tomatoes cinder horse: maaan idk. activated charcoal fits for cinder, but I don't want to touch "horse". maybe horseradish?

As a Great British Gentleman myself I love Frazzles. And seeing this video of crushed Frazzles in a pot of tea is the most British thing I can imagine...
@ninjabgwriterАй бұрын
That's crazy, I've been doing this exact same thing! Except tea blending was already a hobby of mine before I got interested in Layton, so my mind went in some different directions for the ingredients. This video was a very entertaining take on the Layton teas! I've recently hammered out the ingredients for my take on the Sugar Smoke tea since I had the clearest idea for it: hojicha (a roasted green tea with a caramelized slightly smoky flavor) to stand in for the cinder horse, dried kumquat tea to stand in for the citronia seed, and dried marjoram to stand in for the oasis leaf (going off of 'it's a leaf and i think would taste good in this'). I also added dried rose hips because Layton says the tea tastes fruity, a tiny bit of smoked paprika because I thought it needed just a bit more smokiness, and allspice berries because I imagine the tea having that taste a little. I also made some sugar the same way you do for flan into a hard caramel and just broke it up and used that to sweeten it. It had the flavor profile I was imagining, which I was really excited about, and now I'm just working out the ratios of the ingredients until I'm happy with it. I'm hoping to make my version of all 12 teas eventually, and I've been having a blast with it. I'm so excited because when I looked this up a few months ago, I hadn't been able to find anyone else try to recreate these teas. Even though I think this recreation was largely for the purpose of humor, it makes me happy that someone else is playing the tea blending minigame in real life too!

Hey, just wanted to share what the ingredients are in French, thought it might be interesting if anyone wants to try and make tea based on those (also, the real life ingredients are just a guess based on the names): Oasis Leaf : Ortimenthe (ortie (nettle) + menthe (mint) (I know nettle can be drank, my mother's grandma used to make nettle soup) ) Briskberry : Myreboise (myrtille (blueberry) + framboise (raspberry) Citronia Seed : Mandarange (mandarine (mandarin) + orange) Dream Fluff : Elleflore (Ellébore/Hellébore (Hellebore) (apparently it's NOT digestible (toxic) but it used to be used in medicine?) + passiflore (passion vine) (it's fruit are not very good, but it's a cousin of the passion fruit, so, might used passion fruit instead?) Joy Root Clover : Trèflebai (trèfle (clover) + baie (berry) ... This one is way too vague... I have no idea if clovers can be eaten, or what berries it refers to) Tonic Flower : Vitaline (vitamine (vitamin) + ... ? the "line" might have been added for a whimsical aspect) Peppercherry : Tropiquant (trop (very/too much) + piquant (spicy) Cinder Horse : Hippocendre (hypocampe (sea horse) + cendre (ash) So, if we mix English and French (or just other languages), we might get something decent!
