I wouldn't worry about the pronunciation but incase you're curious it's Ah-nees, often called Star Anise, which if you calling it's Star Anus is also oddly fitting. Also, thought you may benefit from a tip to do with the ginger, the easiest way to peel ginger by far is to use a spoon, with the indent facing the ginger push the spoon edge under the skin of the ginger, it will glide very easily between the skin and flesh making it far easier than you'd expect to separate with very little effort and waste.
@XainesWorld
@XainesWorld 7 жыл бұрын
Also the Anise will fit quite well with the stronger miso and it goes well with strong flavours being on itself, it's often paired with beef for the meat eater and is a primary ingredient in Pho, which traditionally has beef but I just do with veggies.

Peel ginger with a spoon edge. For garlic, put the side of the blade over the clove and press or bash it, then you can pull the skin right off. Then mince away! For peppers, cut off top and bottom, then make one single slice down the side. Basically unroll it, slice out the membranes and seeds, then slice it however you need it. Really easy that way.

I'm going to try this recipe tonight! Hot tip with peeling garlic. Cut both ends of the garlic clove. place clove on a chopping board or any hard surface & whack hard with a kitchen knife (turned on it's side of course!). You'll find the outer layer peels off so easily & you don't get your fingers all stinky from hand peeling it. Hope that made sense?!

Heads up for anyone who like to order miso soup at restaurants. The soup stock (dashi) that the miso paste is mixed into isn't always vegan friendly. Dashi soup stocks for miso soup are made of a mixture that can include: - dried sardines (niboshi) - dried kelp (kombu) - skipjack tuna flakes (katsuobushi aka smoked bonito) - dried shiitake mushrooms (hoshi-shiitake) BTW Some American miso has chicken stock in it too.

I'm sure a million other people will say this, but the best way to peel ginger is with a spoon. And with garlic, you lay the flat side of the knife on top then smack with your palm, this breaks all the husk away. Looked delicious!!

Hello Sharla and Taylor!!!!! Just a piece of cooking advice! I remember in the video you mentioned that you wanted to add more miso because you feel like it was lacking flavor. The lack of flavor could possibly be because you boiled the miso! Miso is not intended to be boiled because the fermented soybeans lose the flavor when you kill off the friendly bacteria in the boiling process! The bacteria is actually largely responsible for the unique and umami flavor that miso has. Try adding the miso once all the veggies and noodles are cooked and after turning off the heat ^.^ Please keep making videos! I love watching you guys. Your friendship is so wonderful and you are both individually great people!!!!
