I love that she's open about it, too. I'm allergic to latex, so I exclusively used pads growing up until I discovered cardboard applicators. Now at 28, I have a severely prolapsed uterus, cervix, and bladder, so tampons and diva cups are extremely painful. Pads are the only option. It's nice to hear another millennial not ashamed to not be using tampons.

Don’t be ashamed. I’m 33 and I’ve always preferred pads. I use tampons sometimes but they make my cramps terrible. I’m also scared of tss. I just shower twice a day and I’m good.

Hello, may I know how and why it was shameful to use pads instead of tampons in the US? Coz here in my country tampons are almost nonexistent, they are available here but I havent known anyone who use it! We only use pads.

I’ve NEVER understood why people get bullied for wearing pads. 🙄 I can’t use tampons, and I’ve never been able to. I’ve tried many times, but my body immediately rejects the tampon, by itself, which is beyond painful. It’s almost like Toxic Shock Syndrome, but it happens immediately after insertion, and it makes me physically sick. I’ve tried many brands and different types (even the cardboard applicator ones), but my body won’t have it up there. 🤷‍♀️ I love Always Infinity Flex Foam winged pads because I can’t feel them. It’s like they aren’t there! I use size 5 for full coverage, and I double them up at night even though one single size 5 is like a nighttime pad, but my periods are unusual. They’re either 3 days long and super heavy + painful, or they’re 2+ weeks long and I spot-bleed randomly with minimal to no pain/symptoms. It shouldn’t matter what you choose to wear or do on your period. It should be something that isn’t judged, and it should be comfortable to discuss! It’s not embarrassing, and we need to work harder to end/stop people that judge others or feel embarrassed by their periods because of others. *Free bleed, diva cup, tampon in, or pad up❗️* Be comfortable and end menstruating stigmas.

The feelings of anxiety brought back to me as they showed the bleed-through results on their clothing just brought back horror memories of that happening to me in middle/high school. So many pairs of underwear, jeans, and pants ruined and forever stained. Especially because my period was never predictable when I first started until I got on birth control. I applaud all of you for being brave enough to show these failures because I don’t think I would ever have the guts to show that. Now I use a menstrual cup for my periods and it has been such a game changer for me.

I had endometriosis and my periods were always horrible and lasted at least two weeks. (I had to get iron infusions because I was always anemic and ended up having to get a hysterectomy when I was 30.) I ruined SO many clothes even tho I’d wear a super tampon and an overnight pad. I would’ve appreciated using period underwear, just as another layer of protection. I don’t have to worry about bleeding thru now, but I DO have deal with “post menopausal” hot flashes 🥵🤪

I am always so grateful to see these videos testing period products and being so open and vulnerable about leaks - because they happen. This is something that so many people have to go through every month and normalizing the discussion and visualization of period blood is inspiring and refreshing every time! Have you ever thought about doing something like this again but attaching it to a fundraiser for a women's shelter in your area or a program to help people get access to essential hygiene products? Just an idea!

and for anyone whose donating to unhoused people! please give them disposable products unless they specifically request reusable! its really hard to properly clean and sterilize products, even if they are “lucky” enough to be staying in a shelter instead of the street (lucky is in quotes because oftentimes shelters are worse than the street)

Just to let y’all know DO NOT GET RID OF THE CLOTHES YOU GET PERIOD BLOOD ON! Put peroxide all over the areas with blood let it bubble up a little and then scrub it with a old toothbrush or even rub it together like the fabric and you will see the stain quickly disappear 😌👍🏽your welcome

I’m the total opposite. Tampons are a must. I absolutely HATE the feeling of it gushing out. Especially when standing up from sitting a while. That is a feeling I do not miss. Tampons also keep me super clean. Not nearly as bad as with Wearing pads.

Ya divas such a relief only in the first day when im working and my flow is heavy do i get spotting but thats fixed with a panty liner. Just knowing theres no worry about tss, clogged toilets, the blood capacity or extra garbage is so worth it. The only downside is getting comfortable with your body and not having an extra tampon when a friend needs one. But then again you dont have to run to your purse when you need to empty either.

i use them too (but not thongs, i would say mine are a mix between Brazilians and panties) but in combination with my cup. Unfortunately some days my cup just doesn't sit right and then i have like a medium period that sneaks past the cup and the panties absorb that perfectly fine, i even just have the medium panties and not the heavy blood ones. I don't know about the brands, i am European and we have different brands here...

When I discovered the concept of period panties the only style that I looked at were the super absorbent ones (Thinx and Knix have different level of absorption). That covered everything. I will never get anything else

I used to use tampons for my entire period, then tampons during the day and pads at not since tampons are not great for vaginal flora, then learned how humans are so wasteful and killing the planet and switched to menstrual cups. More recently I incorporated period underwear as a nighttime and daytime when I'm not going anywhere option...I learned that multiple pairs are needed. They're not supposed to go in the dryer so once they're washed they need 1-2 days to hang dry, fyi.

@@stephm2429 that’s absolutely true that your not supposed to put them in the dryer. However I can confidently say that if your in a bind and really don’t want to use pad, tampons, or cup. Putting it in the dryer on speed cycle is perfectly fine. The underwear will not get damaged. Or even tumble dry to at least cut down the wait time.

Lots of good discussions here and I thought I'd recommend the disc!! I hadn't even heard of it until a few months ago and its a game changer. I got a heavier period as I got older and tampons began to cause worse cramps. From what I've seen the cup is similar. The disc does take about a cycle to get used to placing it and getting it into a comfy spot but it is seriously leakproof and lasts 12 hours! I can't wait to get 1 or 2 reusable ones to help with the sustainability aspect.

Since this is a period video I feel like I should share some tips: -if you get blood on something(menstrual or otherwise) peroxide is the best way to clean it up. The reaction between the blood and peroxide causes bubbling, and helps the blood out of the fibers of fabric. -wash with cold water, hot water will set in the stain. -cups are cool! They're a good, one time investment and not as scary as they seem. -pads help your period end faster than tampons, pads allow your uterus, cervix and vaginal walls to contract and expand fully while tampons don't. -in case of emergency, carry a kit with you; fresh underwear, a ziplock for the soiled ones, pads, tampons, midol, whatever you think would be helpful.

I definitely prefer pads. Tampons hurt putting them in and taking them out. I can't wear one overnight due to the risk of toxic shock syndrome because I sleep a good 10 -13 hours a night and you can only leave one in for up to 8 hours before the risk comes. Plus, you don't have to change pads as often.

I would probably only wear these with a tampon, so that if I’m say at work and can’t go to the bathroom whenever I need to, I can be safe in case I have a bit of leakage. I wouldn’t wear them INSTEAD of a tampon, but more as an extra bit of safety.
