@PB-sk9jn4 ай бұрын
Honestly, I have a hope/think since seeing him 1:1 with Dave Macleod (who I personally knew when he was an emerging E7/E8/E9 climber.. long stories, but he caught me once in an inverted trad fall... which his "go for it" attitude also had a role in.. but.. I digress). You saw how he told Magnus to lead Rhapsody after a TR... But Dave told Magnus he is STILL getting stronger mid 40's. He is ONLY reaching a plateau. Magnus eyes lit up. Magnus has ANOTHER 10 years of strength improvement if he stays injury free and trains. And Dave has had injuries since I knew him. Magnus says he's not yet been injured. Magnus: you can do 9c+.
@PB-sk9jn4 ай бұрын
p.s. probably sounds grumpy. Dave saved my life as a belayer. Huge gratitude. I flipped, and fell on trad gear inverted, and he caught me. Thanks Dave.
@mitchelljacob9074 ай бұрын
@@PB-sk9jn Not necessarily muscularly stronger, but from what Tom Randall has said his endurance just gets better and better. It'd be nice to see Magnus do more outdoor sport and even Trad climbing with this in mind

Nikken, with the absolute master-level setting. Magnus with the incredible strength, skill and determination. and Erik, with the incredible storytelling through editing. You don't get enough props for what you do. This video was a journey and genuinely had me wanting to cheer at the end. This collab was everything I'd hoped it would be and more!
@ghosthitthose86816 ай бұрын
its crazy because nikken is an absolute beast and it looked like he was at his limit for a lot of moves and magnus made them look easy like he always does but then magnus goes out with shawn raboutou and can barely do a single move that shawns breezing up its just amazing to see the skill difference between top level athletes

Absolutely! I once met a female pro climber from my country and we tried some boulders together (7b-7c range). She demolished me and i felt like a weak sack of poop. When I saw her in competition with janja it felt like there was the same skill gap as with me and her, which is insane to me.

Audio engineering tip: sometimes when your voices are having trouble cutting through the music it makes sense to carve out a frequency band in the EQ that you'll lower the the music and boost the voices. Individually, they'll sound terrible, but together they might be more distinct while still filling the frequency spectrum.

It’s nice to see Magnus actually having to work for an ascend rather than just flashing everything. It is good to see that no matter how good someone gets, there is always room for improvement and things they will struggle with. That’s actually encouraging to those of us just starting out, that even the best started somewhere and had to do projects above their current comfort zone to get better.

It's crazy how strong Magnus still is, even though he hasn't done more than "staying in shape". That Nikken has definitely improved a lot, but is arguably still "weaker" while looking like an absolute beast. I do think Emil has surpassed Magnus in bouldering and power, but Magnus probably does laps around them in sport :D Not that it matters of course, but it's cool to see the progression.
