Congratulations to the buyer, any repair cost will be worth the investment keeping old iron alive.

You guys have the best banter, it makes me feel like I’m standing there working too. There was a time I hoped I would never see a wheeled excavator again. When I was 16, I got a summer job with the irrigation commission dredging canals. The machine was a Detroit powered Drott 50 wheeled machine. At 6:00am I’d get dropped off with my lunch box, full water jug, and topped off the fuel and fuel cans. This was before cell-phones. It was pretty cool, that old beast would go about 30 miles an hour down the road. That’s why they chose that machine in particular, because it could be driven everywhere.

Sorry about my spelling 1995 one of my old friends got to hold of an old D4 we started tearing it down to ree build transmission a long with the motor it was taking us a while finding a good used parts we would work on it a little bit every weekend New Year's Eve day of 1996 my wife passed away from having our daughter I got bored and started back put the motor together we had an old wood heater homemade I would set my daughter close to the heater to keep her warm I finally got the motor put back together all that was left put in the head on and hooking up the injectors that took me about a month the building was in was An Old log House 🏠 that we had extended and poured a concrete floor there were several families raised in that Old log cabin all it had was a dirt four that old shop have been used a lot I finally got everything put back on it and it set a couple of months before it was started it had an old pony motor to crank the diesel engine with as far as it went with hydraulics was only to lift the blade up and down any other adjustments to the blade had to be done by hand I believe you would know what I'm talking about the only thing that we could not replace was the bull gear on the right side it leaked bad we kept it packed with grease like the railroad uses on their switch tracks you could always find a 5-gallon bucket 🪣 of that Grease where they would throw the buckets off the back of the truck and one go rolling down the river bank
