Many of the people making comments here apparently have no idea what this car is all about. It’s about handling, not straight line drag speed. One guy sad it handles like crap, is over weight, and is a pig in the corners. He obviously has not been in the car or watched any vids about the car. It weighs 200-300 lbs. less than the other cars in it’s class and handles like a go-kart. It’s the fastest FWD car in the world. That’s on the Nurburgring, the ultimate test of a cars overall performance and handling on a road course. It’s also faster than many rear and AWD cars on the Ring. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_N%C3%BCrburgring_Nordschleife_lap_times. It beats the Focus RS by 23 Seconds on the Ring!!! The Focus smokes the Type R in quarter mile. It beats some of the 7-10 year older Super Cars. (i.e, 2010 Nissan GT-R, 2009 Audi R8, 2010 Mercedes SLS AMG, 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo) and the Camaro SS by 36 Seconds (2010) and Mustang GT Performance Pack (2015) by 23 Seconds, and it’s a daily driver 2-Liter SEDAN! So have fun in all of those cars in your perfect little straight line. I’ll watch you pull away and then smoke you in the turns. I raced a Mustang GT into a high speed corner and looked up in my mirror as we entered the corner to see it all sideways and piss dripping from the undercarriage on the driver’s side. Ok, I can’t confirm it was piss but I’m pretty sure it was. It costs $5K less than it’s direct competition and is a better quality car. I paid $35K for mine. All the competition is over $40K. Watch some of the vids and see how flat it corners versus other cars, many which cost $50K MORE than the Type R. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJPLlZisbdumbcU It rides much better than anything in it’s class. I’m sure someone will say that it’s ride is not as good as their Cadillac. I don't hate on any particular cars, but Apples to Apples and Oranges to Oranges guys. A phenomenal car at a great price.

Too much horsepower loss It's about 20% loss of power which is unusual because it's front wheel drive car which means you don't have propler shaft loss and in addition it's manual transmission which is more efficient than torque convertor automatic transmission! There are three possible scenarios: 1-Honda lied about it's real power:it should be 285 HP instead of 306 HP 2-Mechanical components are rubbish that cannot transfer engine power to the wheels 3-Engine is getting heat-soaked immediately after first full throttle which leads to loss of power!
@MXWZJZ
@MXWZJZ 5 жыл бұрын
lots of other baseline stock fk8 ctr dynos are more proper numbers. dynopack dyno are pretty much 290whp ish, and dynojets are all around 255whp ish. I would say stock 306hp is not a lie. Fk8 does have the overheat problem, by as far as I know, it at least takes 3 dyno runs for heat soak to apper, condition: temp below 25℃
@tspectuning
@tspectuning 5 жыл бұрын
arvin ghanadzadeh it depends on Dyno 1. Honda did not lie about power dyno results from various tuners prove that 2. Mechanical components are revolutionary and extraordinarily engineered sure some power is lost to wheels but it’s not as drastic as you think 3. Engine temp is fine it takes a while of hard driving to get heat soak and they wouldn’t tune the car with anything above 220° F

@jak3est
@jak3est 5 жыл бұрын
this is true. these tiny turbos just get more unstable/reliable the higher the boost pressure. hence why larger turbos = less boost more reliability/engine safety for same amount of gains usually with more lag. you can only blow a pinwheel so fast with the same size breath of air until your head explodes or pass out..get a bigger deeper breath and the pinwheel can go even faster with eventually less breaths and no deaths.. same concept

Fk8 horsepower/tq output is determined by 1. AIT and 2. EGR . That's it. If you are in 60' ambient temps and your intake temp stays under 40c, you'll see 280-290 on a Dyno jet, stock. If you are in the south, with 85+ ambient temps, your AIT will read over 40c, closer to the 51c table, and you'll make 270's all stock. You can make all the power requests and torque requests you want to the maps, but the ECU will pull boost and timing based on those 2 factors alone every second the car is running. Moral of the story: don't expect high numbers on a Dyno jet if it's 75+ degrees out, and buy an intercooler alongside your Ktuner platform.👍

Torque is everything you need in everyday driving. The HP is what you need at the track, remove speed limiter and go as fast as you can. My 2 cents

PSI is manifold back pressure, new cars have stricter emissions that make the exhaust back up more. Wish they would give CFM numbers rather than PSI or at least both if they want to talk about PSI. For example, a 88 Turbo Supra i had was at ~16psi, then i opened up the exhaust and the PSI dropped to ~14psi but you could hear more air going through and definitely more power. PSI is a second hand metric, not a real number indicative of what is really going on unless you are talking about two exact same setups with the only difference being a tune.

Regarding front wheel drive cars and as a GTI owner for many years, putting all that power to the front wheels only can only go so far. My 2013 GTI was APR stage 2, 93 octane and gave it 280 hp. It was fast but very difficult on regular roads to keep the tires from spinning. Don’t get me wrong, I love the CTR, but they should have given it the SH-AWD. Current have a 2018 WRX stage 2 MA performance tune, j-pipe and exhaust. I don’t think I can ever go back to a front wheel drive car now.

Yeah, and you have to rev it to 9K+ rpm in order for it to be any competitive, low torque, I like naturally aspirated, but you’re going to make a lot more power and torque with forced induction, plus it will drive better on the street since it will make good low end torque thanks to the turbo. I notice it alone in my 18 Accord sport with the 1.5 turbo, compared to my last Accord with the famous K24, this 1.5 blows it away, more low end torque, I don’t have to rev it to 4K+ rpm just to pick up speed, at just 2.5-3K+ rpm, it does everything I need to pick up speed on the street and highway, the old 2.4 needed more revs to get anywhere, turbo makes a huge difference.

with the ctr engine and bosch ecu, boost tapers down to as much as 10 psi near redline because to properly tune you need to taper the boost down high up on the rpm range when the waste gate must stay open about 2 mm so there isn't excessive back pressure with such high air charge mixture causing cross cylinder contamination. if you're running 25 psi near redline you're going to get some bad results, knocking and detonation
