It sounds like using one of my old cell phones might work out since they are just sitting in a drawer doing nothing. I would never put my actual phone as a dash cam.

Try auto guard , turns on off auto with Bluetooth link to car , has loop and interval rec settings , background records (does not use up battery)

One good reason for you reviewing this application is; If I wasn't looking for review about this application in general. DRIVER... I NEVER WOULD HAVE FOUND YOUR KZbin PAGE. So whether that was intentional on your part or not. It's a good reason to review products that are similar but outside the box. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So I have a phone mount to the right of me and have my old Samsung Galaxy S10 mounted, I currently use AutoGuard and it captures all I need, I have the app to auto record one I open it, who restricts there view buy placing the mount in the middle of the screen? it's in the middle of your screen, the middle of our view! place it in corners and low so you can see the corners!

Wow the quality is AWFUL. Surely there is a setting to record in higher quality? This doesn't make sense, it looks like 480p. Barely.

I imagine it's dependent on the phone's image quality ability! Still, we had it set to the highest resolution we could.

I will be using a second phone 🤳 for this app, and my main phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot with everything deleted but the bloatwear from the memory, putting in a 32GB sd, I'll try it for a while and then I'll get back. Hoping to be helpful thank you for your due diligence

I actually been part of the beta test group for this app for months. One of my biggest complaints as a rideshare driver is not being able to use it at night.

@blackboxmycar yvw love your channel. And being an uber driver the app is not perfect by any means but imo its better than nothing. As a beta tester they actually provided us an iPhone se to test it on. And they really have tried to pay attention to the feedback we have gave to them and ways to improve it.

That's why i don't used a smartphone as a dashcam because the battery was swollen and bigger and now i have a viofo a119s and I put the dashcam below the rearview mirror some months ago and i got nothing trouble with the cops pulling me over

Sometimes that's a risk, but a very rare one! Some systems are also designed tamper-proof, like the BlackVue DR770X Box

Why? Because of all the ripping car apart to wire one. Any any excuse to invalidate new car warranty in Australia. There is only one dealer in my entire state for my model (Cupra) and only one dealer total per state for this car, so unless they agree to install a dash cam and absolutely not invalidate any part of my 5 year factory warranty (like if something goes wrong with the electronics), I ain't touching it no matter how bad I want one. Hence, phone for now. Heck, even on my niece's cheap and cheerful MG HS, she wanted to install front sensors and she was guaranteed that any electrical problem would be voided in warranty. Thankfully she found an official dealer to do it. It's really finicky with new cars here, but, for used or out of warranty cars, absolutely, a real dash cam. Front and rear.

Not worth the risk. Plus a police officer can see it as a distraction since its almost in the main field of view.

I wouldn't use my main phone as a - cam, but I do have an older Galaxy S4 Mini, which is a smaller size phone I'm wondering if I can use that, I've already downloaded the driver dash app or whatever it's called, I just need to find a mount for it, and I'll see if it'll be a usable situation. Of course starting the app every time you get in the car could be a time consuming and laborious effort to come but I'll try it out. I also already have a cheap eBay dash cam actually a low end GoPro camera, which I'm currently using, And I have some heavy duty Velcro securing it to a suction cup window mount. Of course the truth is editor cheap GoPro knock off, ans it shuts off when the car power is tirned off.. but it has to be started manually to record. This is because it is not hardwired into the car's Ignition system like a standard dashboard cam would be so I have to hit the record button every time, That I want to use it, also I want to stow the mount and camera under the seat so I have to do this every time that I park for a reasonable amount of time, Then I have to re attach the section code in Camera to the window, When I'm beginning to drive, I guess I can get used to it but then again I'm poor and I just want to go as cheap as I can with this relatively low resolution to pro knock off camera That I want to use it, also I want to stow the camera under the seat cow so I have to do this every time that I park for a reasonable amount of time, I guess I can get used to it calm app but then again I'm poor and I just want to go as cheap as I can with this relatively low resolution to pro knock off camera
