Easy thing to remember. If you can take the CDL test in it, It requires a CDL to drive. Manufactures rating on both truck and trailer = 26000 or less no cdl, 26001 or more CDL required. Sometimes the tag on the trailer is messed up or some people take them off. If that happens then DOT takes the rating of the tires adds them up and uses that.

1 glow plug out in new england is enough to give you a hard time starting, take it from a dude who had five 6.0s and a 7.3l for plowing. Also doing the glow plug cycle 2 or 3 times helps a lot too but they really are great trucks

I have a 2017 f250 I was eating tires up like crazy 4 sets in 3 years. I drive a lot. I got desert hawk at3. They weren’t too bad on price, but it’s been about 6 months and barely anywhere. Not bad on ride either!

First thing; IS this a 7.3? If so switch to 5w40 FULL synthetic oil. (I like the Shell Rotella) and 2; Make sure your fuel filter is fresh and add plenty of anti-gel additive to your fuel with it being so cold where you are for extended periods of time. Also look into Archoil FUEL SYSTEM additives. I have a low mile Late '99 7.3 myself and have tried all the other additives and am very impressed so far with the Archoil. Do NOT use any oil additives unless your engine is pretty much on its last legs or hasn't been maintained well-as in not changing the oil often enough. MY L99 has just 170k miles now and when I had a UVCH replaced several years ago the mechanic said the engine looked new inside. It has run on Shell Rotella 15w40 conventional since new here in Florida (Except 2 oil changes with the 5w40 full synthetic which is just too thin for our hot/humid climate here)

My hard start in the cold was the ficm. At 32 ish degrees lol Plugged in always fine. Loved my 6.0 put 100k of the hardest hot tuned miles on it before I let her sit for trans repair

the CDL thing all depends on if it is for commercial use or not. If it is private use aka hauling your own stuff and not trucking you do not need a cdl. If you have a big rig hauling YOUR stuff you dont have to have a cdl. however there is a lot of misconception to this and if you get the wrong cop you can have a hard time.

I have a L99 7.3 DRW truck. I have been running the Firestone Transforce H/T tires and am on my second set. They are great tires IMO. I run empty 95% of the time and you're loaded well over 50% of your miles. I think you should use a more agressive tire up there where you get snow.

I also in New Jersey and have a class A CDL I own a landscape business and my buddy got stopped by the dot . and the dot state troopers said register trailers to 0 weight limit And you can get around some regulations 16:57 16:58 not having a CDL

Dot goes by the door sticker weight info. Changing axel from srw to drw the truck needs to be re certified. Depends on the state. Less grief to just have the OEM drw truck unless your really patient and have the beans to spend.
