What I find funny of this game is that Zelda is able to jump and swim (AND GOING UNDERWATER TOO) with her own strengths, without having to rely on magical items like Zora's Flippers or Roc's Feathers like Link usually needs to in this type of games. Like, come on 2D Link...
@JaidynReiman
@JaidynReiman 14 күн бұрын
That's just a gameplay mechanic though. Link didn't have a dedicated jump button until BOTW either. Link in this game _CAN_ jump, and can jump very high.
@grayfox4819
@grayfox4819 14 күн бұрын
To be fair, at least when it comes to swimming, this wouldn't be the first time this happens story wise. In Spirit Tracks (albeith, different Link and Zelda) is said openly that Zelda knows how to swim while Link doesn't (and Zelda offers to teach him once everything is over). It might be a bit of a stretch, but I wouldn't be surprised if that is supposed to be a reference to that, since this game has already a ton of references from past games we haven't seen in decades.

@@Aktedya1-jt7vw Did you tell me any jokes? If yes, i can't see them (KZbin got to you). As for Spirit Tracks Zelda been a "glorified companion"... ¿Have you even played the game? She's far more active during active gameplay than you make her out to be. Echoes of Wisdom is simply the first time where she's her own character without been tied to Link as part of his Hero adventure.
@Aktedya1-jt7vw
@Aktedya1-jt7vw 14 күн бұрын
@@javiervasquez625 That's what I mean by glorified companion. Glorified, because she DOES play a more active role, but at the end of the day, it's only technically a playable Zelda. Not actually equivalent to what EOW is doing, or even her being playable in something like Hyrule Warriors. I find it pretty silly to assume someone hasn't played Spirit Tracks when they reasonably could just not count it.
@javiervasquez625
@javiervasquez625 14 күн бұрын
@@Aktedya1-jt7vw But the thing is she IS PLAYABLE in Spirit Tracks regardless. She can't be a glorified companion if she's a fully playable _protagonist_ on par with Link, making this assertion of yours untrue and vastly misinformed. This comparison you're making does not deny the fact Zelda was already playable in Spirit Tracks and so again, i can't see the difference.

The fact that there seems to be more frame-rate issues (an unlocked frame-rate) plaguing this game, as it did in Links Awakening, to me shows that Nintendo might have plans to provide Switch 2 patches for some games in order to lock frame-rates at 60fps where possible? Then again this is Nintendo we're talking about.

Perhaps but honestly a game like that should run better on the normal Switch. I can understand something as massive as TOTK not running perfectly on such a system, but this.... weird they didn't manage to improve the performance following the Link's Awakening remake. As he said I'd almost prefer it if was stable 30fps instead of often jumping from random numbers between 30 and 60, but we'll see.

As a "Zelda fan," I'm surprised at how little I enjoy most games in this series. I love the original LoZ, LoZ II, Waker, BotW and TotK. And that's it. The way you describe the difference between combat and puzzles in this game is chilling when you stop to consider that Link with his Triforce of Courage can just run head-first into combat but might have a harder time solving puzzles, but Zelda with her Triforce of Wisdom can easily surpass any puzzle then have a hard time overcoming the enemies.

And the only other one was Skyward Sword.. wtf with those controls?? I got killed by the very first enemy multiple times because I couldn't get the controls or at the least they were frustrating and too hard to pull off. I thought, if I can't even best the first enemy, I'm done. And that was $60 😂😭 But at least I own them all. ❤️

See... This was a fear of mine. Aka having puzzles that are far too easy, made so that casuals can easily figure them out. I know that's the direction Nintendo is heading these days & as a hardcore veteran gamer, I kind of hate it. I like a good, challenging Zelda puzzle & I hate how easy they've become in recent Zelda titles. I feel like this could be worse than ever in this game which is a real shame. Still, it is nice to hear that the combat may offer a level of challenge which will definitely be a welcome thing if true. It's extremely rare that I come across a modern game that's even remotely challenging these days, so my expectations are quite low. Guess we will see.

I keep saying it, that item menu has me worried. Its like equipping and un-equipping the iron boots in OOT or the item slider in TOTK I think it’s going to get old super quick. I’m hoping it’s not the impeding. Other than that, game looks great.

This along with Mario Jamboree and Brothership, it seems to me like Nintendo saved the best of the 1st party games until the bitter end.

This most definitely seems like another 10/10 game; not surprising given it is Zelda. But this does look like GotY compared to other games out the year. Brothership looks amazing though, and TTYD was a remake (Which I usually try to avoid giving GOTY awards to; since it's technically just an improved 2004 game rather than a 2024 game). Black Wukong is also what's probably going to get Game Awards choice though (Which is an amazing game for what it is, but GA has hardly really been very reliable, though that still certainly deserves mention) But either way, Tears of the Kingdom was Game of 2023 and no other game even came close despite it being the year that consistently laid out amazing games since the 90's. Surpassing even 2011. And yes, I played BG3 and finished my 3rd time 100% the quests in that game. And finishing the game in Honour Mode is my only achievement left. But it is still a no brainer for me. And even Octopath Traveler 2 was another game I consider favoring on similar levels to BG3. But all in all, Echoes of Wisdom looks like a master-piece and a candidate for top 5 LoZ titles.

Pretty sure BMW is gonna win GOTY after all the massive possitive reviews it's recieved since release. Echoes will nonetheless sell millions of copies and be a huge success though.

@@javiervasquez625 Yeah I got no issues with that given how popular and mainstream. Plus, it's mainly because GA doesn't really care much for nostalgia and fan votes only make up about 10% of the deciding factor; various Journalists who aren't really gamers themselves mainly just the story and not much objective game quality. They do judge innovation to an extent; but if a game is known for being covered head to toe with glitches and there is known that some controls or in game AIs are dumb, they tend to leave those facts out when analyzing facts about the game. But yeah, EoW should sell at least 3 million copies and that's lowballing it. It could get similar if not better sales than Link's Awakening HD long term.

Lol that scene where zelda spawns a meat echo to distract moblins and then spawns a moblin echo to attack... only to have it also distracted by the meat lol.... On another note... CAN WE NOT PET THE KITTIES??!!! 😢😢😢

17:05 and that's my primary concern about it, that by endgame you'll have the same solution to everything like TotK. That doesn't really fill me with a lot of confidence tbh.

A mean you can finish TotK like that that is true. But if a game has to make a new solution mandatory in order to make you solve a puzzle differently that just mean that Tear of the Kingdom game wasn't meant for you. The game is just not like that. It gives you the freedom to just skip almost everything since it fits its design philosophy. Why not try something else? Something that is more enjoyable for you? It is your choise. So why not choose a different option?

How "real" Zelda fans think: Understanding that a bed is a long platform and stacking them in an intelligent way to bridge a gap? I sleep. Shooting a hookshot at the designated hookshot panel on the wall? REAL SHIT

What I'm curious about is how on Earth does Link's Awakening and this one have more slowdown than TOTK? Makes no sense to me considering the top down view is so limited and you can see for what seems likes miles in TOTK without the frame rate dropping.
