I love the sense of community that the chateau owners are developing. It makes the adventure of buying and renovating a chateau much more powerful. And that said, I also wonder what the vendors of the brocantes in the area think when they see a gathering of privileged chateau owners descent on their local sales. Delighted or envious?

That was such an enjoyable update, thanks so much Julia, Carolina and Penelope. I loved your chateau from the first view of it from Stephanie’s vlog and how great it is to have the tour of Steve and Sarah’s chateau from your perspective. The ‘Chateau group of friends’ that have emanated from La Lande is truly magical and you are all so talented in various fields. Carolina, it was a very touching moment when you remarked on the quality of the newly plastered staircase walls at la Lande, which I think was the last job done by ‘Ian the plasterer’ before he died recently? It shows how the quality of his work will be much admired for many years to come. Now you have the exciting part of finding new furnishings for your chateau to put your own stamp on the decor and make it your own. 👌🥰🙏🏻

More and more families are buying Chateaus and it is great to keep in touch like you do and help each other. There is another Chateau owner settling in France, and he is a young Physician, and his fathr was or maybe is ( not sure) a farmer. And they have a magnificent Chateau!!! It is out of this world with towers and lovely areas that you would livie in as a guest and drive through the two areas of and then the really large Chateau/ home for he family and however they plan to use it all. i know they plan to have parties and people working there and they wnt people to visit. I will be a real home atmosphere! So I really think in time this Physician and family may well join you al!! (forgot just where he is located, but near Paris, but to be honest it seemed a bit moe North or in the middle area of France, I THINK? He knows in Winter it wil be the cooler area and do thinkn it is maybe two hours from Paris, France.) He has been on You Tube to show his Chateau and he is just starting out and it is getting a lovey renovation and then shown once more. He feels it will be a "Lifelong " process. though He has alot to do and he has much of it already figured out, but l he is looking for any suggesions that the people watching may have. A certain date he plans to have peole meet up live, andask him questions, but only will he take 100 people. I did get in! So as you keep joining up with thrs and meeing new peole to share and party with and get ideas from and all this hsaring and enjoying time together and yet working hard dto, but I think you are making lifelong friends! I did mention on the vlog about Chateau Diaries and Stephanie and a little about how many of you arefriends, so hopefully in tim you all do meet up soem how through the vlogs. Cannot remember just the title but it is' The French Doctor who has purchsed a Chateau" it goes on to explain that this young man is a doctor and his father has worked his own and owned his own farm and they now bought a Chateau.' But it is much more than just the large Chateau /home and they will have a lovely place for anything they may want to have weddings and Bed and Breakfast, i think? But they want that comfortable lived in feeling for all to enjoy although it wil be beautiul. The kitchen will be an enjoyable ara for sure as it sounds. The araa that you first enter and can drive through is ' romanic' with livable towers on each side of the gated entrance..On each side and each building is magnificent by itself o have some living quarters whether temproary or permenan, Iam not sure how he will handle this? ! Then you see the main house before you! But there is much work to do right now, just like with most everyone, I certainly hope you can look him up and you will in time maybe be one of the people that will be live, to ask questions and have suggesstions? Only 100 people can be allowed for this iive chat, at this time. ***I only say all of this in hopes yu can ffind his vlog and welcome him to joing u with the chateau owners and all the friends so you can joing with hi tooo as really thin the ae is right nd a phsycian and hisdad being an owner of his own farm they will it in jsut right with everyone!! You all have much in common!!! *** i would love seeing some one from other Chateaus to welcome him into your fold!? That knwoing he is welcome and he can join with others with so much in common would be wonderful for him, I think? For all of you to share together!

Steve and Sara are lovely, the building is beautiful, but I really don't get the colour palette Steve and Sara have chosen for their finished interiors. 1970's hospital waiting room? Mostly a mass of washed out base browns and greys, and pastels? Everything from paints, curtains, wallpapers, chandeliers, furniture, seem too small an idea for the spaces. Classy, cohesive, timeless, chateau-esque? I just don't see it. The shutters are a classy colour though, I agree with Julia. This is only my opinion, and I'm not sure there is a nice way to put it. Perhaps it's a budget thing. Perhaps it looks better in person.
@lwest56862 жыл бұрын
I agree that these are absolutely lovely people and I so admire the courage and fortitude it takes to move to another country and make one's home a chateau. I'm just surprised at the unusual colours - they seem kind of 70's hippie-ish with no continuity from one room to the next and don't do justice to the chateau's features and character. The nicest chateaus I've seen use muted colours or the whitewash which helps furniture and art stand out rather than distract from it - also more in keeping with the whole 'chateauness'. To each his own of course and I hope my comments do not cause offense to you as guests or to Steve and Sarah.

Just a friendly tip for the lady who narrated the balcony scene off the bedroom: your French accent is beautiful, but if you could pronounce the word croissant without saying the "t" at the end, you would sound like a native! Just pretend there's no "t" when you say it.
